Re: Rourke now a NE Patriot

When I read about the new NFL rule on 3QB, I wondered how it would impact Nathan. Assuming the Pats use their #3 pick on a QB, they will already have 4 QB's in camp. Rourke will have to pass Zappe to #2 spot to dress for a game as I would imagine that the rookie QB will hold the Emerg QB spot.... s...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Surprises me how the line gets drawn and some get paid and some don't. It would be a shame if A.C. Leonard retires because he can't find a team willing to pay him if in fact that is the issue. I can see Edmonton having cap concerns and also feeling as if they can recruit well enough to fill the hol...

Re: Lions' receivers

Cottoy was already at 807 last year and McInnis at 690. I fully expect both to improve on those numbers primarily because they will be in more prominent roles. They ranked 4th and 5th in targets just ahead of Rhymes who missed 8 games. Also I think the gloves might be off for Cottoy as they start u...

Scratch Mac Jones.from the New England equation. Patriots are reportedly trading him to of all places.....drum roll.... Jacksonville, for a 2024 6th round pick. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39699526/sources-patriots-trade-qb-mac-jones-jaguars Damn so all season long we heard Doug Pederson sa...

Dave Ritchie

I was saddened to hear of the passing of legendary CFL coach Dave Ritchie at age 85. With the Lions, Ritchie was best remembered as longtime defensive coordinator and secondary coach, but he was also head coach for the 1994 B.C. team that defeated the Baltimore Football Team in the first internation...

Re: Touchdown Pacific in Victoria 2024

Curious how they are including the Grey Cup option and if they are asking for money now for that. I would love to see home town season ticket holders get a deal on their seats. I bought my Grey Cup tickets last November when I renewed my season tickets and switched seats for 2024. They're paid for....

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

The CBA calls for a minimum of $110,000 per team in player marketing and promotional fees but the overall cap including those fees is $5.635 million, plus a share of any league revenue growth. $110k min is outside cap. You could spend $1million if your want. Key is this has to be earned, but teams ...

Re: Touchdown Pacific in Victoria in 2024?

The Lions aren't giving fans much time to decide whether they will use their season tickets for Touchdown Pacific. I got an email today giving me until this Wednesday, March 6, to declare whether I will use my tickets or surrender them for public sale. Given that it would probably require an expensi...

I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. He was a great student and teacher of the game who regularly shared coaching tips and videos to his many online followers, myself included.

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

The marketing and promotional fees I’ve seen in current CFL contracts are up to about $12,000 each, so that’s 24 appearances at $500 each or 120 hours at $100/hour, which isn’t onerous if it includes offseason appearances. The team salary cap figures in the latest CBA are somewhat confusing. Salarie...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

It's complicated but the basic team salary cap for 2024 is $5.525 million, plus $110,000 for non-football-related services such as player marketing, travel and housing, for a total of $5.635 million, plus a player share of any league revenue growth, if applicable. In all of the recent salary disclo...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Disappointing to hear of a new "marketing" category that falls outside of the SMS allowing Winnipeg to register Dalton Schoen's reported $230,000 contract as $190,000. Why bother to have a salary cap at all? The easiest thing to do is to play by the rules at least at the management level....
