Re: Training camp 2021

Interesting workaround by EDM-CGY for the absence of pre-season games https://twitter.com/FarhanLaljiTSN/status/1404876671912529921 If that goes through I could see all of the traditional rivals doing the same. It would be a short bus ride in most cases: Saskatchewan/Winnipeg Toronto/Hamilton Ottaw...

Re: 2021 schedule

It is a weird schedule. BC plays 9 vs West and 5 vs East. The splits have BC playing 1 home game and 4 road games vs East and 6 home games and only 3 road games vs West. 2 out of the 3 road games vs West come in the 1st 2 weeks. The home-field advantage against West rivals could help the Lions in t...

Jon Hameister-Ries

I was saddened to learn of the death of former Lions' OL and 2011 Grey Cup champion Jon Hameister-Ries at age 37. He had the talent to build a long career at guard but injuries cut his career short. https://twitter.com/angusreid64/status/1404595641242718209?s=20 Retired CFL offensive lineman Jon Ham...

Training camp 2021

It's official: The B.C. Lions will be back on the field Sunday, July 11 for the start of a 3-week training camp at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops. With the CFL Board of Governors' approval of a 14-week regular season beginning Aug. 5, the Lions have released daily training camp practice schedules, wit...

Pete Ohler, RIP

I was sorry to hear about the passing of Pete Ohler, who was not only a Canadian quarterback on the 1964 Grey Cup champion Lions but was a local Vancouver College product. As a backup to Joe Kapp, Ohler's main duty was to hold on field goals but he got the rare opportunity to throw a TD pass in that...

Re: Eskimos: change your name

Funny, the new Elks logo kind of reminds me of the Als' old logo from the early 1970s (in its simplicity or design?). https://gdurl.com/G2P8 DH  I like the Elks logo. I don't understand the old Als' logo or their current one. 3downnation.com is asking readers to rank the nine team logos. Call...

Re: 2021 season

Matt Baker informs that Claudell Louis and Bob Dyce's son Trysten have been added to the Lions' coaching staff as assistants on defence and offence respectively. https://www.bclions.com/2021/06/02/lions-add-trysten-dyce-claudell-louis-coaching-staff/ I’m happy to see the Loons round out their staff...

Re: Eskimos: change your name

It’s official: The Edmonton Football Team is now known as the Edmonton Elks. I’ve been touting the Elk name all along but I’ll go along with the plural version, which is closest to the once commonly used Esks. I also like the new logo and helmet design featuring antlers. https://twitter.com/elks/sta...

Re: Passing of a Lion legend from some of the darker years - Greg Findlay

https://twitter.com/CFL_Alumni/status/1392536228625403906?s=20 Greg Findlay was a mainstay of the B.C. defence when I started following the team in 1963. He still ranks among the team leaders in number of games played (176). He would be shocked at the laid-back atmosphere of training camp today, whe...

J.J. Adams has written a nice update on Nathan Rourke's journey to the Lions after an unexpected tryout at receiver with the New York Giants.

Re: Braley Wants to Sell Lions

Farhan reporting that the Woodall/Keith group are out as potential suitors for the Lions. They may have looked at the books and decided that the debt (especially with limited revenue these past couple of seasons) was too much to absorb if they were to purchase from the Braley estate. Or simply that...

Re: Predict the Lions' 2021 Opening Day Front Four

Much has been made about the Leos' front 4 since we were not able to retain Micah Johnson. It will be a largely 'no name' line, but I wouldn't confuse that with 'no talent.' Lots of veteran Import talent coming here, many of whom have had stops in the NFL (of varying lengths). Here is my opening da...

Re: 2021 season

https://3downnation.com/2021/05/09/british-columbia-has-not-approved-cfls-return-to-play-plan/ Not entirely accurate--it wasn't a NO.
