Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

I will be surprised if the Winnipeg Ice are in existence in 5 years but good luck to them too. It is somewhat interesting what they are doing there. The ICE were playing at the arena at the U of M. They were scheduled to be moving into a new 4000 seat arena under construction at The Rink Training C...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

Many recently laid off TSN employees might beg to differ. When they have no competition they can do as they please. The layoffs were to improve efficiency and profitability. Nothing to do with staving off bankruptcy. Same idea as cutting salaries by 20%. They want more is the bottom line. Did the s...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

CFL asking for another 20% from the players to start the season on time seems like a bit too much imo and not sure why they are not going back to TSN and asking for increased revenue seeing that many will be watching from home. I suppose that would depend on the charity of the advertisers who buy t...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

Now all the Federal and Provincial govts have to do is sell Canadians on taking it (after the chequered history of the testing phase). Unlike the wingnuts south of the 49th I don't think there will be much problem "selling" Canadians on getting vaccinated. I have not yet met a person who ...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

This UFPA seems to be more like a pro football players' lobby or advocacy group that has no formal ties to any leagues or PAs. They only came into existence less than 7 months ago. The only things relative to the CFL I could find was an article making players aware of the CFL option year that would ...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

^^ I have been thinking exactly the same thing. Tom Mayenknect is not known to be a sensationalist reporter and this is how he feels about the CFL-XFL dialogue and what's behind it. https://twitter.com/TheSportMarket/status/1370986285175697409 I am grateful for my 50 seasons of following the CFL (a...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

That said, it's weird to drop this bomb and have no detail whatsoever. Either way, reeks of desperation. Sometimes it's best that a business entity get out ahead of things to try to form the narrative. It's certainly in the best interests of Ambrosie and the CFL that he break the news as opposed to...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

I like the idea of the CFL and XFL exploring opportunities to grow and market the game. Both leagues have their own strengths. I don't want to see a merger, especially if it would mean eliminating the unique features of the Canadian game. I 100% agree. Merging makes little sense unless they happen ...

Re: 2021 CFL free agency

While I am sorry to see that Sol is definite about retirement (I had hoped that he might reconsider during the season), I would very much want to attend and show appreciation at a retirement ceremony for Sol. A one day contract seems to be the standard way of retiring as a BC Lion these days. Perso...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

I don't know if this was from a recent town hall or something Matt and Rick did in the past couple of days but good information in the various clips.

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

Just received a very short survey from the Lions. Obviously they are wanting to get feedback from season ticket holders related to the possibility of having some number of socially distanced fans in the house. 3. Please select the option that best describes how you use your season tickets __ I use m...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

Lions and canucks games should follow bars restaurants and churchrs opening first with relaxed covid rules. Not total exemptions yet. Might make for an easier sell for Bonnie. It looks like the CFL, wisely, will be tapping into the considerable expertise that Oilers team doc Dr. Dhiran Naidu has to...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

Afew thoughts about this season. First I would suggest a phased approach. Each game will will provide guidance for subsequent game conditions.. So, for the first game sell all the seats and have f people scanning fans as they enter to ensure no one is displaying covidsymptoms. Masks must be worn en...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

Just watching the daily briefing from the PM and other fed health officials. Pfizer is accelerating deliveries with 1.5M expected this month. They are now expecting overall vaccine deliveries of an additional 2M doses by the end of this month giving them 8M doses to the end of the month, up from 6M....
