Simulated CFL Games

Is anyone else watching Rod Pederson doing live simulated CFL games? It's awesome! I had to bust his ass a bit by sending him a comment that I can't wait until he calls a game at SIM BC Place because it will be the first time he was correct about fake crowd noise. He read it on the broadcast and rep...

Re: Eskimos: change your name

When I was in elementary school we were taught about the Eskimos (people, not team). We watched Nanook of the North and other National FIlm Board of Canada documentaries about Eskimos. We learned about kyaks, seal hunting, and blubber. As kids we were fascinated by these exotic people known as Eskim...

Re: Week 3

The PxP job Pederson did was amazing. Normally I would not watch someone play a video game, but I could not stop watching this one. If you were only listening you would have no idea it wasn't a real game.

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

I don't understand why everyone assumes that a hub city scenario means the teams pick up the costs for food and housing for the season. When a player from Anywhere USA gets signed by the BC Lions he has to find and pay for his own housing in Vancouver because that's where his job is based. So if eve...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

If the CFL is able to get a partial season going, then the idea of playing in the home stadium of one of the GC finalists in a sound idea, with less of a need for hotels and partying and just a physical distancing Game Day. I think the CFL is dangling that idea of playing the Grey Cup in the home s...

Re: Good and Bad BC Lions Season Commercials and Campaigns

One inexpensive advertising approach I'd like to see is fan testimonials. Interviewing enthusiastic fans about why they go to Lions games or what they love about the team. Maybe longtime season ticket holders - ask them what it means to be a season ticket holder. The Canucks have done this with gre...

"Double Time" made me laugh. Seeing his bloody stump when the foam finger fell off was brilliant.

Re: Passaglia vs Cameron

Let me start by saying Lui is my favourite BC Lion of all time. But thanks to the story book finish in 1994 we tend to forget that Lui didn't have a great game. His punting was mediocre giving Baltimore a short field for most of the game, and he missed a 37 yard FG with just over 1 minute left in a ...

Re: why is CFL interest so tepid in toronto?

I know there is a lot of preference to get the season started earlier in June to avoid playing too late into November, but I'd kick off the CFL season on the Canada Day Weekend every year. With pre-game pancake breakfast or BBQ and live music, a kids carnival of some sort, and a half time ceremony t...

Re: Favourite BC Lions Stadium

Gotta give it to "new" BC Place. It's really one of the best stadiums in North America. The fact that it's too big for the Lions doesn't take away from all the amenities of the stadium. Now, the best stadium to watch a game for me was actually temporary Empire. Sure the concessions and bathroom situ...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Even in those states where Governors have "opened". It appears that people have decided to largely stay home. So much so that statistically, they are hardly going out more than in states that are in lock down. People are scared and right now not really believing what their own governments are sayin...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

I don't think PPV makes sense for the CFL when you compare it to what TSN is willing to pay. CFL on TSN averages around 500K per game with peak viewership of as much as 750K for high interest games plus over 3M for the Grey Cup. For TSN that's worth about $50M per year for 86 games, based on the rec...

Re: Lulay leaves front office

I imagine this was a decision made on how to best provide for his family. With the very real prospect of no 2020 season Lulay would be basically unemployed. Most sales jobs include a commission based salary, and this is when those commissions would start to roll in. A 10-year NFL QB might be able to...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Belize pondered the idea that the cap covers most of the player salaries which isn't exactly true. It covers about 90% of the SMS Cap which doesn't include 6G injuries, the football ops cap of $2.8M and salaries of the other support staff like trainers, medical staff, equipment staff etc whom a tea...
