Re: Should CFL teams retire numbers of stars?
#6. While it's always very sad and tragic when somebody passes away, there are other ways to give tribute than to retire their number. Perhaps a small memorial inside the stadium can suffice as a number retirement banner should be reserved for his on-field performance and dedication to his team and...

Re: Should CFL teams retire numbers of stars?
This is a great great great topic. And this post is a bit of a repeat but I hope it brings some more things into focus. Here are seven questions that are asked in the evaluation process of whether or not to retire a number: 1) Are they a Hall of Famer? 2) Did they help a team win a championship? 3) ...

Re: Should CFL teams retire numbers of stars?
Cromartie, which #9 are you talking about, Roy Dewalt or Damon Allen? I favour Dewalt as I was never all that big of an Allen fan. IMO, Allen's claim to fame was his super long career which enabled him to amass impressive career stats. But in reality, for most of his career there were other QBs who...

Re: Should CFL teams retire numbers of stars?
Here's my opinion. No Lion should ever wear #9 again. Or #5. I don't think there's an argument against that. These are Hall of Fame players wearing the number. There is a transcendent level of performance over a sustained number of years that a player can provide that warrants the retirement of that...

Re: Lions release Rhymes
Cottoy has a very unique role in this offense, so let's set him aside.
You're going to need another lid lifter, so you aren't bringing back Lucky either.
Beyond that, I do agree that a lot of the free agent signings mean turnover. Which, honestly, is fine.

Re: CFL Expansion
There is a zero percent chance Saskatoon could support a stand alone CFL team. QC would be great for the league, and great for Montreal if they could overcome the objections from Laval. The Montreal rivalry potential is outstanding. I'm still a believer in a coast to coast league, which to me means ...

Re: Rourke now a NE Patriot
Only 3 games remaining and not much oppourtunity to learn the Offense of a new team. This looks like a "let's see what we got for next year" move by the Patriots and a screw up by the Jags, especially if Lawrence gets ruled out due to concussion for the next game. Hindsight is always 20/2...

Re: 2024 B.C. Lions Schedule
In the gate dependent days, teams would schedule the more expensive road trips up front, because they would have the season ticket revenue to fund them. In three season sports travel and logistics in relation to weather still matter somewhat. So the longer east/west trips still tend to happen earlie...

Re: West Final: Lions at Bombers
The Lions aren't winning this game. The defensive scheme isn't built to stop whichever of the two Bombers offenses show up, which I would imagine will be the run heavy one, and the Bombers O Line is better than the Lions D line. They can beat us by out muscling us in the run, or they can beat us by...

Re: West Final: Lions at Bombers
Man Bomber fans are so cocky. Just reading some posts from their forum and they seem to think Saturday will be a cake walk for them. Would really like the see the Lions kick the Bombers in the teeth. I don't know about the players, but the fans, after all those banjo bowls don't really have teeth. ...

Re: West Final: Lions at Bombers
No. Cottoy has abilities as an in-line de-facto But a football does not bounce predictably, footballs get tipped, and all kinds of things can go wrong for a favorite in a football game. As Yogi said "It ain't over til its over' and at this point, we have a good chance, with those few breaks an...

Re: Lions at Ticats Oct. 13, 2023
The Lions have to tighten up on defence. They’ve gone soft and give up too many easy yards and first downs. They’ve allowed an average of over 30 points a game in the second half of the season. Nearly a 1,000 yards in total offence combined in the last two games — never mind the time of possession....
