Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

Thanks for posting BC 1988. The big news for me from this interview is that Ed Hervey won't be replaced by another GM. Rick Campbell and Neil McEvoy will jointly take over duties for the foreseeable future. No word about Geroy.

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

Interesting piece here about our Leos from Business in Vancouver (written by our former mayoral candidate....I rather wish he had won).

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

B.C.FAN, you mention the introduction of the coaching staff. The Lions' website still shows only the 2020 staff. I'm wondering if that group remains intact? I happened to see (on Travis Brown's twitter) a screen shot he retweeted which did not show either Jason Tucker or Danny O'Brien. I don't want...

Re: Speculation is over. No season in 2020.

The dots are starting to be connected. A plausible scenario goes like this. Mike is deciding whether to stay in Edmonton where he's happy or move across the Rockies to play closer to home. Tough choice but something enticing usually has to be offered to make someone leave a good situation. Yes, the ...

Re: Post David Braley era - what comes next?

LeLacheur is a capable leader. While he may not have the contacts in the business community that say, Bobby Ackles or even Dennis Skulsky had as he only arrived here a few years ago, he knows his way around a P&L statement. Few around the league have his football experience as well. I would imagine ...

Post David Braley era - what comes next?

I didn't want to hijack the "RIP David Braley" thread but it is very important to talk about where the club goes now - with ownership, marketing strategies, etc. This 10-minute piece with Tom Mayenknecht is a "must listen" for any BC Lions fan. I don't agree with all points (e.g., changing the mark ...

Post David Braley era - what comes next?

Interesting interview with Farhan on TSN1040 (Donnie and Moj). Farhan talks about potential future owners, the club's demographic, and his thoughts on a new stadium for the Lions. https://post.futurimedia.com/ckstam/playlist/listen-27726.html DH  Mod Edit - out of respect for Mr. Braley, I hav...

Re: RIP David Braley

In the past, I have been critical of Mr. Braley's stubbornness in holding onto the club. Guilty as charged. But today is about celebrating his life and achievements, and his devotion to the Lions and CFL needs to be recognized. I am grateful that he has provided years of stability and am thinking of...

Re: Ed Hervey leaves Lions for "personal reasons"

Wonder if he was asked to take a pay cut and said, "adios?" Or perhaps an opportunity came his way with the XFL, closer to home. Anyway, this comes as a shock. Whatever it is, I hope he and his family are safe. :cr: I thought we were in a pretty good place with the way the roster and coaching staff ...

Re: Chase Claypool & the big BC receiver army

Some older or ancient (eg. Hambone) Lions' fans might be able to name some other big receivers who came out of BC to play for the Lions or other CFL teams ? Was Vince Danielsen a BC guy ? What about BC product tight ends when that position was prominent in the CFL ? Although Riders' slot receiver R...

Personally I get real tired of the product name stadiums. Rexall this, Staples that, What's next Viagra Village? or maybe B Cialis Place? The slogan? It's hard not to watch....
How long before it would be nicknamed the PupTent?

Re: Speculation is over. No season in 2020.

Oh, I'm not sure it was easy money. Imagine trying to figure out what you were going to do for several months, approaching Government for help, getting turned down and being ridiculed to boot. Dealing with all the second guessers who like to comment on such things without ever having had to deal wi...

Re: Speculation is over. No season in 2020.

As a complete side note, does anyone else besides me think that it is bloody strange that virtually every other sports stadium/arena in North America has naming rights but not BC Place? It's a crown corp yes, but it's not exactly making money hand over fist from what I hear. They can use all the rev...

Re: Braley Wants to Sell Lions

Nothing against Reynolds but I prefer an ownership group with deep business connections in the community. I don't know that local celebrity part-ownership has helped the Vancouver Whitecaps (Steve Nash) Giants (Michael Buble). It doesn't seem to matter much anyway. I doubt that Braley would ever ap...

Re: Braley Wants to Sell Lions

Celebrity ownership can be a risky venture, especially if they are not huge, passionate, long-term fans. Can they stomach losing (games, money) or will this a blow to their ego? That said, I've long thought that someone like Ryan Reynolds would be an interesting match for our Lions. He has huge cach...
