Quick question, how many were sold last year? Lions approached the 20K mark and were likely around 17K or so at this point. Daliwal was saying this afternoon that they have sold 1600 new subscriptions. However, he didn't mention the renewal rate. He also said that sponsorship commitments have doubl...

I'm trying to understand what David Braley is proposing. Is he proposing to buy the Stadium outright or just act as Manager (create a new Management company) through which the Stadium can attract new business and relieve the Government of the operating costs. Actually both. He's tried in the past t...

The only thing I can see is BC Place staying where it is, or the Lions playing at the potential Whitecaps stadium. What I think most people would like to see? BC Place to remain where it is, a patched roof for now, and a possible retractable roof for the 2010 Games. What I think developers would li...

It seems that ever since the roof blew apart everyone is grabbing the pinata stick and taking a whack. The latest is local condo marketing guru Bob Rennie who was the lead story on NEWS1130 this morning weighing in that BC Place should be TORN DOWN after the Olympics. The rationale? Surprise surpris...

Never gamble on a Marty Schottenheimer coached team. :wag: OMG Bosco - how prescient!! That guy should be ashamed. It was an implosion with the game in the bag, plain and simple. 1) Why did the DB try to intercept the pass on 4th down when all he had to do was knock it down and the Chargers would h...

You can add Garrett Hunsperger to the list. Garrett sadly passed away last year in St. Louis, Missouri where he was from. He was one of the toughest players to play for BC at DT (1969-74) and Toronto (1975). I know that Wayne Matherne another Lion from back then - a tough DB remained close to Garre...

David while I agree it would be nicer to have a cozier atmosphere, BC Place is used for more than just football games. Those 60K seats are great for large concerts and other events. Plus, I really, really hate "temporary" grandstands. They're so cheap and crappy. I do not wish them on any...

Surely you don't mean that 120db panicked and jumped to conclusions when it was merely suggested that B.C. Place might be replaced. I find that hard to believe! If the government was to sell the land say, in 2011 and used some of those funds toward a replacement 37,000 seat facility to be rea...

JoJuan Armour Arrested

As was broken earlier in the week by Ravi on 13th Man and reported by Mike Beamish in yesterday's Vancouver Sun, former Lions and current Ti-Cat LB JoJuan Armour is in trouble with the law. He has been charged with resisting arrest and obstructing official business in connection with a fight and sta...

He points out there were three problems that combined for the blow out. "There appears to have been a weakness in the fabric, there was the error that was made with the increased rapid pressurization and the wind factor outside." Crosley calls the combination, "the purrfect storm&quo...

I've always been impressed by Tim Cheatwood, but I am not sure he's the rush end the would replace Chris Wilson. Still, he played along side Brent Johnson at Ohio State so the two know each other fairly well....

Having said that, I still get a kick out of Howard Crossley's insistence that it was a "controlled deflation" by stadium staff when there is clear video evidence to the contrary. The roof collapsed, Howard -- as the kids would say, deal... And if this roof had popped open during the...

Good post Phil and I agree completely. I am going to miss Ryan both on and off the field. In addition to being a dependable receiver with an uncanny knack for getting lots of YAC, he was an asset to the community. I really liked how he was able to overcome some challenges early in his time as a Lion...

Regardless of how this all plays out, it is patently irresponsible for a member of one team's front office to disclose to the media the availability of another team's star player. :x In fact, some of what he said (speculating that his availability "may have something to do with money," &qu...

As a frustrated ad executive, I am humbled. But I actually thought mine was no better than the 2nd best submission. Sir Purrcival's "Lion like an MP" still cracks me up - for sheer cheek alone.
