Re: Lions vs. Stamps Oct. 20, 2023

Lions can hope that cry-baby/clown Dickenson abandons their ground game (with several good RBs to use) this coming West semi like he did in last year's play-off game. Stuff the run early and almost guaranteed the CFL offensive coaching default / same old mode comes into effect. Then it would be Jak...

Re: Lions at Ticats Oct. 13, 2023

The Good: * The club's overall resiliency. Could have folded like a cheap tent after that demoralizing loss to the Bombers, only to have to travel East and play in Tim Hortons Field - not the kindest ballpark to our Leos over the years - and not really a lot on the line. Probably a lot of tight sph...

Re: Lions at Ticats Oct. 13, 2023

Well, a win is a win but hardly overly impressive. Ticats had no business being in the game cause they got gifted a TD drive on what was an obvious fumble recovered by the Lions - how the goofs in the Command Centre could not get that right is mind numbing. New RB does not look like any kind of answ...

Re: Bombers-Lions: The Showdown

What I was thinking on the concept of him trying to kick it Toppy was that he'd have to take his foot off the gas so to speak and slow down to first get his foot on the ball and second to get enough of the ball to get it at least into the end zone. If he did that I think he would've been steam roll...

Re: Bombers-Lions: The Showdown

What a complete waste of time Davis is at this stage of career. Almost laziness on the Lions’ recruiting efforts not to find an athletic young QB to use in those situations instead of signing a 34 year old as a supposed short yardage specialist. Pipkin was better a year ago coming off the scrap hea...

Re: Bombers-Lions: The Showdown

Rhymes could not only have - with proper coaching instruction - got down to kill the clock for a game winning FG try; OR he - easily had time & space to punt the ball into the end zone - where it could even roll out the back line for a rouge = game over, and no possibility of a FG miss or block.

Re: Bombers-Lions: The Showdown

Out-coached, fell apart in the 2nd half. Adams is just not always on his A game - not sure if he can be counted on to put together a full game in a big game. Great receiving corps, but agree with Blitz about Mizzell - mediocre at best (as was Butler really IMO), and the OC doesn't grasp what a groun...

Re: Onside Punt for First Down

It is a risky play because a player with the ball at the line of scrimmage usually has opposing players in close vicinity. There is a high chance of a turnover. Is it worth the risk vs the safer field position play? Depends a lot on circumstances and situational awareness. I’m not sure that it woul...

Re: Lions at Elks Sept. 22, 2023

You're only as good on offense as your offensive line and QB but nothing is harder for the O-line than predictable run calls and pass blocking all game. But nothing fires them up as much as steamrolling D-linemen with a run game. A run game with the likes of a Cottoy not just the speedster types li...

Re: Lions at Elks Sept. 22, 2023

definitely agree that MCinnis should be in the main 5 pack over Lucky - bigger target, bigger catch radius, harder to tackle; however, I see no reason to not be able to dress Lucky as well, and have him in for certain packages, as a deep threat, or even just the main back-up for the starting 5. They...

Re: B.C. at Montreal Sept. 2, 2023

In Montreal today. It's a nice warm day +23 right now and getting warmer. It's quite windy. Supposed to still be around 24 at kickoff. Sitting at the bar in 3 Brasseurs at corner of University and Saint Catherine I just saw Moj & McCallum walk by the pub. Moj no doubt in quest of a Dunn's or so...

Interesting take by Cro above, for sure. Again - the off-season talk that Nathan would only go down to the NFL if it was a chance to https://www.lionbackers.com/bc_lions/posting.php?mode=quote&p=420358&sid=55301d53831038f754aca74fe3d2aee2#compete for a #2 job, was either a pipe dream or els...

Re: Nathan Rourke Waived by Jacksonville Jaguars

More interesting takes by WCJ & Blitz = beauty guys ! Nathan was a starting QB in Div I US college ball ; the NFL has an extensive scouting machine and surely knew of him (though Ohio is not a Div I powerhouse program that they favor); so they could see he was one of the best running QBs in all ...

Interesting take by Cro above, for sure. Again - the off-season talk that Nathan would only go down to the NFL if it was a chance to compete for a #2 job, was either a pipe dream or else just PR spin & bafflegab, and maybe both. He likely jumped at signing with the only team that had any sort of...
