Re: 2021 season

Even at the best of times, players need to juggle things and sacrifice to play in the CFL. This doesn't surprise me, but interesting insight nonetheless.

This reinforces how important our support as fans is. Looking forward to hopefully standing and cheering in August!

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

5,000 fans in seats sounds good to me at this point. Would be great to watch some live sports. Besides, at BC place it will feel like just another mid summer crowd.

Re: 2021 season

This is incredibly unfortunate, as CFL fans. Sadly, sports are the least of our concerns right now. Even under the best circumstances, I'm now doubtful we will have fans in seats in Canada in 2021. "Out of an abundance of caution" will become a new familiar catch phrase. I hope I'm wrong. ...

2021 season

Happy Easter everyone! I'm starting to get both excited and worried about the upcoming season. Things will surely evolve, as maybe will this thread. As of today, what are you guys predicting will happen? What we know: covid numbers are at an all time high, yet vaccines are underway. CFL can't really...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

That said, it's weird to drop this bomb and have no detail whatsoever. Either way, reeks of desperation. Sometimes it's best that a business entity get out ahead of things to try to form the narrative. It's certainly in the best interests of Ambrosie and the CFL that he break the news as opposed to...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021

It could be a marketing ploy. Any CFL talk is good for the league. That said, it's weird to drop this bomb and have no detail whatsoever. Either way, reeks of desperation. I like the idea of a new CFL - Continental football League. If that's what it takes to keep things moving. We all know the leagu...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

That seems like a reasonable amount of money. And justifiable. The cfl has a moderate economic impact. It also helps maintain the fabric of Canadian society. We love our hockey, but the cfl is more "Canadian," and even the haters would miss it.

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

I'm all for it! 6 games is better than zero games for this fan.

Not sure I love 8 teams in the playoffs though. If they did 6 teams, then that 6 game season would be exciting (and meaningful).

Re: Claybrooks

The team was unwatchable. There were little if any mitigating factors for claybrooks to stay. The fan base is low and they were losing badly. Short leash seemed appropriate.

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Would be cool if they used bc place as the hub venue, and allowed season ticket holders to attend. They could probably manage a few thousand per game.

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Good point about skytrain. Yet another reason why the top doctors might continue to ban larger gatherings.

With all the precautions that may be necessary, at some point fans will ask themselves if it's worth it. Entertainment industry as a whole is in tough.

Not a fan of "nothing rhymes with orange."

What does that even mean? That the lions are unique? They were uniquely bad last year, so I guess it's accurate.

Anyhow, replace the marketing team.

Re: Good and Bad BC Lions Season Commercials and Campaigns

Those old commercials are great! So do the lions even advertise any more? I don't recall seeing anything the past few years.

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Are you able to convince all these owners that guaranteed losses is okay? Maybe for years? Of course it's about the money. Maybe not ALL about money, but it's a big factor. If money was so important, they wouldn't buy into the CFL in the first place. Money is important to everyone. If anything, mor...
