Re: 2020-2021 NHL Season
After having almost the entire team test positive for COVID, the NHL is expecting the Canucks to resume play next Friday and complete 19 games in 31 days. The league has extended the season from the original end date of May 8th to May 16th. https://www.nhl.com/news/canucks-return-to-play-nhl-season-...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021
https://podcast.sportsnet.ca/scott-rintoul/rintoul-surman-hour-1-hour-2-sportsnets-colby-armstrong-and-kelly-hrudey/ Dave Dickenson was the guest on Rintoul & Surman today in hour 3. Worth catching in the podcast once it's up. He sounds very cautious about the chances of a "full season"...

Re: 2021 season
Agreed. There are a lot of unknowns in what is effectively uncharted territory. Here are a couple of articles on the US situation that are worth the long read. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/03/covid-19-variants-covid-21/618427/ https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/03/fou...

Re: 2021 season
That's what I thought too, but some surprising things are happening in the US right now. https://toronto.citynews.ca/2021/04/03/california-oks-indoor-sports-concerts-as-covid-cases-plunge/ Bear in mind that these include some of the most hardline California jurisdictions, not just places like Texas ...

Re: Lions in the local media (REVIVED thread 6-10-20)
Scott Rintoul just informally dropped the news that starting Monday SN 650 has begun hiring ex-TSN 1040 staff starting with Halford & Brough, who will be the new morning show, replacing Cybulski (he of the THANK YOU JIM) & Solkowski. He also said Karen Surman will be joining him on his show....

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but it seems that Europe had time to pause, reassess and recommence use of the vaccine but the US won't approve until April? I have some doubts as to why it is seemingly taking them so long to get on board when it seems that most of the developed world has done so. Nei...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMtXtSER47k I watched the BC Health COVID-19 update for today, and Dr. Henry did not have to directly address refuting concerns on the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine (unlike in Ontario and Quebec). There were a couple of expressions of outrage from callers with questions ...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021
The issue of restoring confidence in the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine continues. https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/astrazeneca-blood-clot-risk-canada-1.5957462 The potential (blood clot) link could have massive implications on the rollout of the vaccine in Canada and other countries, after use of the sho...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021
Unlike the wingnuts south of the 49th I don't think there will be much problem "selling" Canadians on getting vaccinated. I have not yet met a person who is thinking anything other than how fast can I get it? And the sooner the better. As will I. I am in the 59-55 age group with no pre-ex...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBAu6Caf3mg Today's COVID-19 BC Health Update had appearances from multiple govt officials. Basically, President Biden announces that the US will allow Canada to use a huge amount of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, and it looks like Ambrosie's optimism of "a full sea...

Re: Lions in the local media (REVIVED thread 6-10-20)
https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/next-steps-tsn-1040-broadcasters-fm-station-considers-all-sports?auto=true Good article by Tyler Green about the broadcast rights of the WhiteCaps and Lions (as well as Mariners and Seahawks). All seemingly dropped without a care by Bell Media. Talk of an FM station s...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021
As if we need this too--what amounts to QAnon for football. RF already has several pages about this bizarre organization. https://twitter.com/UnitedFBPlayers/status/1371835664094875665 and their unfounded claims. Both Farhan and Naylor said UFPA is making things up (since they are a non-invol...

Re: Randy Ambrosie optimistic about 2021
Thanks for the 1970 vs 2020 stat comparison. It does provide some perspective on how the NFL has changed . I remember what I posted back in 2013 about how the casual fan reacts to what looks like a boring game (3rd post down the page) https://www.lionbackers.com/bc_lions/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2733...
