Re: Jovan could be on his way out of the Den

I don't understand how the Lions are up against the Cap when they're paying their QB's $200k less than some other teams...and removed a $200k LB from the payroll? Why would Wally pay C. Williams a huge salary when we're already stocked at WR and have Rainey on ST who is under-utilized...especially a...

Re: Jovan could be on his way out of the Den

Instead of getting rid of Olafoyie or Lulay because the Lions are short of cash with Wally overspending like a drunken sailor on other team's free agents, perhaps Wally should give back some of his ample salary for his failings? Dual GM/HC in the CFL can earn over $500k per. Would a restructuring be...

Re: Jovan could be on his way out of the Den

There's got to be more to this than just money. I won't speculate but it makes no sense to lose Olafoiye or Lulay because Wally overspent in free agency. Trading or releasing Lulay to save money is patently ridiculous, without a viable 3rd-stringer and our 24-yr-old starting QB phenom having a NFL t...

Re: Should next Lions owner(s) consider a minor celebrity st

Two candidates are: the "Rock" who recently tweeted some favourable comments about the CFL and Wally Buono...and Jon Bon Jovi who was part owner of an Arena team and the front-man for Toronto's Buffalo Bills bid (with T. Rogers and L. Tannenbaum).

Re: Free Agent Market and Free Agent Camps

As well, wally doesn't like is returner to play offense due to number of hits you take as a returner. By having Williams and Rainey, you can have them share the returner workload and Rainey can get Offensive reps. Yep, that's what I was thinking too. They don't want to reduce the number of touches ...

Re: Rintoul is toast (grap the pitch forks and storm TSN 104

I can't say I'm too surprised, unless you enjoy the Chipmunks version of play-by-play. He's the first Lions PBP guy ever, that I won't listen to...and I go back to Jim Cox, who was about the best in my books. I guess Rintoul's over-the-top adoration of the Seahawks rubbed me the wrong way. I do admi...

Re: Barker relieved of GM Duties in Toronto

We should give the Argos the benefit of the doubt here. MLSE is greedy but not stupid. There must be a very good reason why they jettisoned Barker at this time. I'll bet they have a sensational new GM/Superboss in the pipeline who'll be unveiled very soon.

Re: Adam Bighill Released

Brendan Ayandabejo was similar in size, weight and age (6'1" 225# and going on 27) when he left the Lions for the NFL. He played there for a decade making the Pro Bowl 3 times as a special teamer. Bighill's age as well as his size work against him as a possible NFL special-teamer. He'll turn 2...

Re: Adam Bighill Released

I wish Adam the best of luck. Still not crazy about over $400,000 of cap space potentially tied up to a pair of international linebackers and handcuffs the Lions elsewhere. Get Elliminian signed and Washington might have to revise his scheme that sees Team #100 rack up a ton of tackles. Apparently ...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread

The trend in the CFL ownership seems to be in conjunction with a hockey team. Their season's don't overlap that much, providing year-round employment for the marketing and administration staff. Football in the summer and hockey in the winter has been a staple of Canadian sports fans for over 100 yea...

Re: Leos/Bombers West Semi-Final

While turnovers can cost you games, the heat J. Jennings takes for his Int's is a little overblown. Yes, it's smart to be cautious but Jennings' 15 Int's are not that bad considering his penchant for the spectacular long bombs. We should remember another Lions QB, Doug Flutie heralded as the Greates...

Re: Paul McCallum to sign with Lions

McCallum was also very good at directional punting. Not sure if he still has the leg, but if so he could perhaps do the punting/kicking from 50 yds in, with Leone's big leg punting/kicking the long ones where accuracy isn't as important? The next question would keeping Leone as one of our four desi...
