Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Well summarized Murdoch. We are not even over the first wave.

Be safe.

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

I'm in agreement with Hambone. This is not about money but about the longevity of the CFL and what it represents. We need the other CFL owners to express the same feelings and fans to stand behind their Teams and not perpetuate the CFL is dead mantra. If we don't play this year, so be it. There will...

Re: CFL Stadiums and Game Day Experiences

Remember when there was talk of an outdoor stadium in Gastown seating around 30,000? Although it was for soccer, I though the Lions would also use it. Yesterday's news reported, " The Vancouver Whitecaps' owner just sold this 115-year-old Gastown landmark in an all-cash deal."

Be safe.

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Canada's society is not like China, Vietnam, Korea where 1984 is in full swing. We still treasure individual freedom although Facebook and Google, to name a few, are pulling it away. Generally, I prefer the freedom but I agree in times of a pandemic it would be good for "the people in charge" to kno...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

I like the positive attitude of the Grey Cup in Vancouver. I'll make sure I save a mask and set of gloves. I wonder if Costco will be open for the pregame hotdog?

Remember to wash your hands.

Re: Goal posts

There are certain peculiarities in football that have to stay regardless of technology. For example, the 10 yard chain. It could easily be a laser measurement but the drama would disappear when the spot is marked. The goal posts have to be goal posts not a virtual 3D hologram. Still need human refs ...

Count me in for the transparency rule and the kickoff procedure.

Let's get this season going.

Re: Braley Wants to Sell Lions

"What secret ingredient is involved that allows NFL teams to fill their stadiums despite the opportunity for fans to stay home and watch on tv?" I think a few reasons, the population in the US, Fantasy Football and single game betting. Even with attendance down, the numbers are still very large. The...

Re: Braley Wants to Sell Lions

I know it is an apples to oranges comparison but the Seahawks have an estimated value of $2.8 billion. As a minimum, the cost of a NFL franchise is $1B. I remember when the CFL salaries were higher than the "old" NFL. We need a MBA wiz kid (or gal) to come up with a business model where CFL football...

Re: Braley Wants to Sell Lions

I'd like to be positive and think he is making room for all the winning trophies the Lions will win in the next few years under new ownership. Who ever buys the club needs deep pockets with real money at their beckoning call. We have had enough owners tied to real estate holdings and penny stocks. I...

Thanks Derek. With very little Lions coverage, this site is a godsend for info .

I'm looking forward to another year.

Re: Braley Wants to Sell Lions

To paraphrase, "it’s going to happen when it happens". Not very encouraging. A couple said no but 5-6 are interested. Really? I'm curious to know who the potential brides are.

Maybe a bit off topic but I'm hoping for Blitz to return with his "the night before Christmas".

Re: Who Got the Better Coach - Ottawa or BC?

I vote BC as Campbell has been to the dance 3 times as a HC and still has lots of years left to go a few more times. We now need a OC to tailor to Reilly style not trying to mold Reilly to their style. Campbell coming here reminds me of when Wally first came here years ago--a successful coach with a...
