Comparison of player costs NFL to CFL

Can some one enlighten me on why CFL player costs are only 17% of gross revenue while NFL are 45%+ . I understand revenue is much higher in the NFL.. But that should mean player salaries should be a lower percentage of gross. I’d like to see pie chart on team average revenue and expenses by category...

Re: When Will the Purge Begin

48 Points against an all star defense is a shocking inditment of the BC coaching staff and the game plan in all three phases Four first team all-stars Lee, Foster, Orange and Coleman, as well as 4 more 2nd team all-stars in Lemon, Willis Rose and Lokombo and we let them post a near 50 burger on us. ...

BC's Great running attack and a Willie Flashback

Watching the game the other night makes me think this iteration of the Lions may have the best the teams best Tandem of RB's ever. Johnston and RAiney have been amazing showing both power and a slippery quality not all backs posses. I am old enough to remember Willie Fleming at his peak and on Satur...

Re: Tommy Joe Coffey struggling with dementia

Telling this story will tell you how old I am and how many years i have been a fan of the CFL and Tj Coffey. In 1959 I was a wide eyed 13 year old boy in Edmonton. Every day in that July i would get on the bus and take it the to the practice fields next to Clarke Stadium. There the legends practiced...

Free Agency- Unique year for BC Lions- Be GM for a Minute

In looking at the list of free Agents for the BC lions I would say a disproportionate amount of BC's cap is being freed up and in play. Taking into account the Salaries of Lulay, Harris, Olafioye, Arcenaux, Taylor E. Smith Cord Parks and Valli, there maybe near 50% of the Cap in play with less than ...

What happened to Cord Parks

A year ago Wally Buono called Cord Parks a key signing when resigning him. Now a healthy scratch.

His play seemed to fall off in the second half of last year and now is nowhere to be found. Any insight here?

Brett Boyko cut by the Eagles

BC secoond round draft choice Brett Boyko was waived by the Eagles this afternoon. He may save this draft for the lions yet. Christian Coving looks like he has nailed a slot on the Texans D. Great for him. Congratulations. Brett Jones is on the bubble in NY. CBS sports is reporting he sprained an MC...

Will the blackout be lifted tonight?

It seems to me with the small capacity of the UBC Facility (<10K) it is a purrfect opportunity for the lions to lift the blackout.

This will showcase the product with the two week break coming up and may drive some ticket sales for the opener.

Thoughts???

Re: New Head Coach -- Jeff Garcia throws his hat in the ring

Further to my post I will bet real money that Jeff Garcia owns one of the limited editions of the definitive bible 550 pages that Bill Walsh wrote on coaching. I do not know why i believe this but over achievers like me would to own that. read the article hear on Bill Walsh's book http://espn.go.com...

Re: New Head Coach -- Jeff Garcia throws his hat in the ring

I truly believe Jeff Garcia is the epitome of an over achiever. I think he would make a great head coach Below ara list of some of the coaches he has played for. He learned and absorbed and excelled in most of his stops. Some of Garcia's mentors and Head coaches Wally Buono Steve Mariucci with a big...

Re: MMQB crew (including Peter King) Comes to CFL Opening we

MMQB is Monday Morning Quaterback a digital Magazine published by SportsIllustrated. It is headed up by premier sportswriter Peter King who you see on TV all the time. By far the best website for NFL junkies. It has a bevy of reporters who write on all things football past and present. It is my go t...

MMQB crew (including Peter King) Comes to CFL Opening week

On the opening week of the CFL season, June 24-July1, the MMQB crew of reporters will be fanning out across Canada to attend opening games in every city. Here is the quote from today's MMQB. A few words about my schedule for the next month or so. I’ll be taking two weeks vacation starting tomorrow, ...

A Look at Receivers

The loss of Nick Moore changes the staffing of the WR positions. Courtney Taylor moves to slotback. I think there will be some upheaval in terms of our Canadian WR as well. Hopefully K.Jones OC and Joe Paopao WR coach can coax more out of this group than Jacques did. Here is my Overview. The Starter...
