Karma can be a *beeotch* Rammer and its certainly laying down some evil times on the old Evil Empire.

Maybe instead of the Elks as their new name they should have called themselves the Whelks, because they look like snails out there these days. :beauty: Wish Vic Rapp was alive to enjoy their demise!! :towel:

TheLionKing posted "Everyone knows that the secret to winning is execution not the schemes" :hypno: Its sure been nice to listen to interviews over the past couple of seasons without the repetition of "We just gotta execute" and "We just gotta make plays" ad nauseum.

Rich Campbell has also been a treat as a Head Coach if only for the lack of unnecessary drama that always was reflective of the Buono era - as blowing up at players on the sidelines, having great difficulty on 3rd and 1 (more blowing up at players) and too long in the huddle time count violations (more blowing up at players after confusion getting the play called in)

Leos football was such a rabbit hole world, for so long, under Buono, that when normal arrived under Campbell, it didn't feel normal at all for a short while. Then I realized, hey, this is true normal.

To the topic we were discussing - the hiring of Jones as GM and Simon as Assistant GM in Edmonton with Wally serving as a consultant. Hey, maybe Wally, was really looking after our Leos be insuring the Elks would fall into a rabbit hole themselves.

Now that may sound like a stretch,

But don't forget that in 2011, when Wally called for McCallum to punt on the last play of the game and McCallum ignored him. With Wally having a fit on the sidelines McCallum kicked a field goal from 53 yards out to keep the winning streak alive. McCallum was mobbed by his teamates while Wally instantly went on the air to say "I knew I could trust Paul to kick it through the uprights"

Good 'ol Wally may just have fooled the Elks too!! :rotf:  :roar: :beauty: :roar:

Enjoy the game tonite! (Roar you Lions roar, just like 1964 :towel: )

Never had a problem with Wally Buono as a manager of men. Creating a winning environment and culture. Always good at suspecting a player's "best before" date and staying one step ahead. Very few mistakes there. In-game managing was always a different issue. Lots of conservative blunders. Relatively easy for opponents to recognize our tendencies.

I always maintain that he was a successful coach, not necessarily a great one. Should have won more than 5 Championships in 25 years given the levels of talent and winning % he enjoyed.

Talent was Wally’s forte, I doubt any GM has had comparable talent over the course of their career. That said Wally led Lions should conservatively had one or two more GC’s, plus the Wally Stamps lost to McManus in the WDF on a good chance to get a GC.

Game management, he overrode the offence to play ultra conservative expecting his talent to out perform the opposition. It did at times, but should have much more.

Any score predictions for the third and final game between BC and Edmonton on September 22?

June 17: Edmonton 0 at BC 22
July 29: BC 27 at Edmonton 0
September 22: BC ## at Edmonton ##

Do you think it will be in the lines of: BC >30 at Edmonton 0
In the end, it certain wasn't a shutdown as it was a very close game in the final meetup:

September 22: BC 37 at Edmonton 29
