It was almost Heidi Game in the USA as in the America, ESPN2 was telecasting it and with the score 33-30 Ottawa and Calgary just recovered onside kick. Then at 7:00 PM ESPN2 showed the scheduled event at 7:00 PM - DRL Drone Racing. But shortly afterwards, it went back to the game and showed overtime.
------
Also, Senators win today, Flames lose today and yesterday, Dinos and Hitmen lost as well. Terrible weekend for Calgary, and a great one for Ottawa.

I wonder if Henry Burris will be GC MVP with his huge passing yards despite his interceptions.

Oh....the superstition is correct in that Redblacks didn't hoist their division trophy while the Stampeders did. I wonder if this will set a precedence in the CFL as well.

It looks like Henry Burris was given the MVP after all. The trophy was very simple in the form of a black plaque. Certainly not a huge trophy and certain NOT a huge truck like they gave in the 1990's.

MVC trophy is the same design.

I've mentioned this before, but the Stamps and Lions have always alternated GC wins with each other. Neither team has captured two Cups without the other winning one in between, and that "streak", if you want to call it that, continues with this outcome.

Seven different teams have now won the last seven GCs, in reverse chronological order: Ott, Edm, Cgy, Ssk, Tor, BC, Mtl. The only other time this has happened was 1989 through 1995: Ssk, Wpg, Tor, Cgy, Edm, BC and Balt, the last of which came when the league had 13 teams. The current string came with only 8 or 9 teams in the loop.

Also, this is the first time in Lions' franchise history that the length of the current Grey Cup drought since the last championship will exceed that of the previous one.

A very exciting game, much more exciting than I had projected. Calgary looked like they were taking a page out of the Lions vertical game plans.... except that Mitchell was not sharp on his throws, and seemed to be "pilotting" the ball instead of firing it into the receivers. They had a lot of open crossing routes and Daniels was grabbing everything, just as Jackson was for Ottawa, which was great to see. In the pre-game radio show, one of the Ottawa analysts questioned how Calgary would play if they did not have the lead and I think they were very impatient. Mind you, I thought that Calgary was going to grab the win when they got that interception with a few minutes left, but they squandered that gift from Burris.

Just like the Marshawn Lynch non-call, I suspect a lot of folks in Calgary will be questioning why Jerome did not get the call at the 2 yard line.....

I thought about listening to the radio but Rod Black was the announcer (with Guilio) so off to the pub I went to watch.... Glad I went.... Congrats to Ottawa... they were the better team today.... and deserved the win.... Lots to digest this off season....

Love it! Spent the entire weekend in TO wearing Lions and Redblack's gear; letting everyone who asked that yes, just cause I was from the west I didn't have to support the Stamps. I have been a long suffering Ottawa fan and I am elated as hell!
The crowd was overwhelmingly RedBlack and it was noisy as hell. Great stuff; it will go down as a classic!
Only negative....I went to lay a $20 bet on Playnow for the RBs to win but because I wasn't in BC, it wouldn't let me bet. Could have made some $....but I don't care.

Does anyone think that Sinopoli is breathing a huge sigh of relief after messing up on the short kick? Don't think he would have got outstanding Canadian he the RedBlacks had lost. I'm not sure who is Cdn in the Stamps. Don't think Messam would have earned. He was marginal today.

I didn't think Sinopoli was 100% at fault. The Calgary player made a great play and there was no other Red Black players near the ball.

Key play was the tackle on Buckley on 2nd down forcing the Stamps to kick the field goal to tie the game.

It was a great onside kick by their punter Rob Maver. Had enough hangtime that Sinopoli got drilled as soon as he caught.

What a game. Biggest Grey Cup upset in my lifetime. Sure made the Lions performance and preparation last week look pathetic in comparsion.
