According to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, former B.C. linebackers coach Johnny Holland has been hired by new Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson to help coach their linebackers.

Good for him, he did a great job with our linebackers the last couple of seasons.

The Edmonton Eskimos have officially announced the coaching staff that will joining first-year head coach Jason Maas.

Former B.C. Lions head coach Mike Benevides will serve as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach while Mike Gibson, who has been a coordinator and assistant with several CFL teams, will serve as offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Cory McDiarmid, who has 12 years of CFL experience and was an assistant special teams coordinator with the Saskatchewan Roughriders last season, is the special teams coordinator. Casey Creehan, a former defensive coordinator in Hamilton and Toronto, is the defensive line coach.

Former CFL defensive back Barron Miles is the defensive backs coach while also taking on a role in player development. Miles has won two Grey Cups as a player and two more as a coach with B.C. and Saskatchewan. He was the DB coach in Winnipeg last season.

Tim Prinsen will be running backs coach while Jordan Maksymic handles quarterbacks. The team said the linebackers and wide receivers coaches will be announced at a later date.
Good luck, Benny. Back on the horse. Class guy.

Jacques Chapdelaine has joined the Alouettes coaching staff as wide receivers coach and special adviser to OC Anthony Calvillo. It's a natural fit. Calvillo could use his coaching experience, and the club can use his language skills with the French-language media. As an assistant, he was always sought out for on-field interviews by French-language RDS during games against the Als.

Well, they won't get him, but read this article about how Denver used the "red-dog" defence and neutralized the panthers. My take-away was the way that Phillips and his staff actually analysed the opponent and devised defences specifically for them.... simply put, they adjusted and used a relatively safe way to attack the offence... what a concept....

Interesting article. You can bet the other teams will be copying Denver's defensive schemes next time they play Carolina.

Great article, Dusty. Thank you.

Full credit to Wade Phillips.

Aggressive, attacking defence takes the championship. Against an offence that ran a vanilla passing game and pass protection, that did not prep in detail, with variations, for this one opponent. The Panthers were out-schemed with modern-day football game planning and preparation.

We will refer to this once again, depending on how our defence game plans and plays this year.
