Another Vancouver Canucks season has started at the location where the last season ended in Calgary. Let's see if they can better their previous season of 48-29-5= 101 and I wonder if 3 on 3 in overtime is welcomed by the fans.

Well, the Canucks got off on the right foot with a solid 5-1 win in Calgary. Too bad they couldn't do well in their previous three games in Calgary.

The Canucks need to work on 3-3 overtime as they are 0-4 on overtime games that ended without a shootout. They also need to hold on to leads....although they barely managed to last night with a 4-3 win in Phoenix after blowing a 3-1 lead last night in Dallas.

Big night for Daniel and Henrik Sedins in leading the Canucks to a big win over the defending Stanley Cup Champions Chicago Blackhawks. They accounted for 9 points.

With the very high cost of hats these days, it looks like Canuck fans are unwilling to depart with their hats as the ice was not showered with hats and a cleanup crew did not come out to sweep off the ice of hats. The center-ice face off occurred shortly after Daniel Sedin's hat trick goal.

It looks like media attention and criticism does matter quite a bit as after hearing all the complaints about not throwing their hats on the field when Daniel Sedin got his hat trick, this time lots of hats (60+) were thrown on the field when Radim Vrbata got his hat trick. Or maybe.....the fans threw their hats on the ice as an excuse to see the ice girls to come out to retrieve them. :rotf:

I'm sure various NHL arenas have their own policy with regards to the hats and whether they can be retrieved afterwards. I'm not entirely sure if in Rogers Arena fans can retrieve their expensive hats after the game.

About time they win one. Last game they managed to muster only 17 shots.

What an abysmal performance against Minnesota. Defence was standing around while Minnesota was passing the puck around. Ryan Miller should be suing his team for non-support.

Canuck's free fall continues with a 2-0 loss to the Flyers. Will there be a public outcry to Free Willy ?

Canuck brass consider Markstrom a better prospect than Lack. They may be right because Lack is struggling.

At least an OT win for a change, this time in Detroit.

I certainly didn't see that coming with all the injuries to the Canucks.

What did you think about the 3-3 and 2-game format?

Daniel Sedin representing the Canucks managed to win with his Pacific team.

But darn, never has a Canuck ever won the all-star game MVP award and this time, there was a good chance. With 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points, Daniel Sedin was the top scorer playing on the winning team so fittingly, he should have won game MVP. Instead, they chose the team captain John Scott who only got 2 goals for 2 points.

This reminds me of the injustice in the 2002 MVP when Markus Naslund was tied with the top scorer with 2 goals and 1 assist, tied with the eventual MVP winner Eric Daze. But the nod should go to Naslund given the fact that he played on the winning team and scored the winning goal.

I quit watching All-Star games because it's usually boring.
