"We have to execute better."

That is Wally's solution.

Suitor says: "Well, the Lions have tried 3 QBs. And it is not working. At some point you have to look somewhere else, besides the QBs, for answers."

Our QBs have to run for their lives. There is no pass protection. And it is not all on the execution by the O Line. One would have to look at the schemes, wouldn't you think?

Burris gave us a chance with his 3 Ints.
.............

Calgary 215 yards rushing.

BC 24 yards by Running Backs, 20 by QBs.

Well, we sure did de-emphasize the running game this year. Gawd knows why.

Hufnagel 9 - Buono 0 ... "Student" beats "Mentor", 9 times in a row. The "Student" designed the offence for hs "Mentor" Buono way back in the Calgary days. Perhaps it is necessary nowadays for a Head Coach to have X's and O's expertise in his resume.

Biggest screwup by the Lions: blowing up the O Line in the off-season. Clueless. Chaotic. Not building over the years, as they had the opportunity to do.

He isn't. He never was. KC and Hamilton confirmed that.

It doesn't matter who is in at QB, that may be the worst O-Line I have ever seen!Combine that with Chap and you get what you see.

Just heard Wally put the blame on the D for allowing that many points! It is all the players fault! :bang: :bang: :bang:

Buono says he is starting to wonder if they have enough talent.

Hmmmmmmm

Is he starting to wonder if he has enough talent in the coaching department?

Buono says the coaches are working hard. Long hours too.

Buono has hitched his wagon to the coaches he has.

As I have said a great number of times, I think Hufnagel, Trestman and the Austin/Miller combo in Regina have raised the bar of coaching in this league. What used to work for Buono doesn't work anymore. And he hasn't seen it yet. He still thinks Chapdelaine, Dorazio and Benevides (and himself) can compete in this league.

If Wally was GM only, do you think that he would fire a coach with a 1-7 record?

I think that we have all come to the conclusion here that this is a three headed monster.

1) The talent is just not there. Sorry, but Esks have way more talent in their tumultous room than the Lions do.

2) Coaching is sub-par, and in denial. There are steps to take when the offence regresses year after year since Chapdelaine got here, and it improved when he left in 2007. (As an aside, I was stunned to hear Suitor on team10hockey recently refer to the fact that Dorazio was the OC here last year, when Young Skywalker himself has confirmed that his dad was carrying the "Receivers Coach" tag to ensure that the Esks still paid part of his salary, which we all knew, but that Jacques was indeed the OC, which we also knew. That was a terrible travesty, blaming Dorazio for Chapdelaine's incompetence.)

3) Playcalling is abysmal. You can't DARE the other team, whom you know knows your playbook as well as you do, to stop you. They will. They do. Duh.

Sometimes the coaches can't see the forest for the trees, imo. The game has changed, and Chaps' playbook hasn't. Wally's strength was always the fact that he was a good manager of coaches, if not a very good game day head coach. Now, he can't even manage his staff.

He needs to stay, but with coaches he can guide, nurture, cajole, teach, help. But that won't happen.

You could have Doug Flutie in his prime and that offense would still struggle.......it's simply not fair to blame any QB.

Well, on the positive side the Lions did score 35 points tonight. That's the most scored on Calgary this season and by far the most points we have scored all season. Yes 15 points came in garbage time when the game was already decided, but still - it was 35 points.

Let's face it, say what you want about the O but with the 5th different makeup of the Oline in 8 games, you can't build consistency there and consistency is key on the oline. In addition, the D gave up 215 yrds rushing. You won't win many games when the opposition can run that far down your throat.

Take away 7 points on Yonus Davis' stupid fumble on the missed FG and if Arceneaux doesn't fumble in open space, who knows what happens.
Now that I don't live in Quesnel do I need to change my handle??

Okay, I don't claim to be an expert in football.
But surely this is the worst Offensive line...
How many times do 2-3 guys walk around the O-line and put pressure on the Quarterback?
It's ridiculous.
That falls squarely on Wally, in reality the O-line has never been outstanding but this has become an embarassment.

I'm no fan of chap either. Can the offense be any more predictable?

If this season is a write off, than we must start moving forward. If Travis Lulay is supposed to be the future, why not put him in now? Grow with him. Also, is there a reason why Jamal Lee isn't getting any touches? Hell let anyone run the ball, it's probably more effective than getting sacked or off-balanced prayer.

Lastly, good to know Arcenaux is happy to showboat his way to 1-7.
