This is good news for QB's around the league...

Less to worry about re: cheap head-shots...

The Canadian Press...:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost a key member of their defence Friday.

A CFL source requesting anonymity told The Canadian Press that defensive end John Chick signed a deal with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts.

Chick, 27, had a banner '09 campaign, being named the CFL's top defensive player after registering 32 tackles, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also captured league all-star honours and helped Saskatchewan advance to the Grey Cup before losing a heart-breaking 28-27 decision to the Montreal Alouettes.

Contract details weren't immediately known, but the source said the six-foot-three, 250-pound Chick received a three-year offer with the Colts that included a solid six-figure signing bonus.

Chick, who played his college football at Utah State University, spent three seasons with the Riders. He is also a Type 1 diabetic.

Chick was entering the option year of his CFL deal and was eligible to sign with an NFL team until the end of next month. If he is released by the Colts, he would return to the Riders to complete his CFL contract.

Less helmet to helmet shots are always a good thing for our League. The NFL on the other hand, is far less tolerant of that behaviour than Higgins and the boys are.

Get lost, NFL.

Do your own recruiting and developing of players. Or pay for the players you take from our league.

How about a $1,000,000 fee for the discovery and development of a player that the NFL then takes? Seems fair to me.

Mark Cohon, do you read this stuff? Get after the NFL. Get some limits in place. Or get some payback. Or both.

And now Dimitri Tsoumpas is heading south too. Huge loss for the Stamps.

Wow just wow. A very disturbing trend. At one time there seemed to be a rule of don't sign with an NFL team unless a half decent signing bonus is included. That seems to be thrown out the window now. Perhaps it's what Logan pulled off that has got the attention of players.
Lesson to be learned — don't buy a jersey these days of a player under the age of 27.

The only reason they're doing this is because of Wake and Logan. It'll stop next year when they realize our guys aren't suited to their game except for the occasional monster (like Wake). All the guys they've signed will be cut by September at the latest.

A few of these guys have a shot at making NFL rosters. Others would seem less likely.

The reality is that this happens every year doesn't it ? It's not some new phenomenon , just that more of our guys have been poached lately . But still I agree the CFL needs to put a stop to it . Where else are players going to sign if they don't make the NFL ? Make 'em sign a hard contract if they want to play here and only can leave when the contract expires .CFL used to get money from the NFL for that clause , but now gets nothing . The clause should have been gone when the money went .

Tillman made a huge deal of it 3 seasons back when Chick went after Jarious Jackson after he was already down. Rob Murphy, Sherko Haji-Rasouli, and Corey Rodgers went to Jackson's aid, and if I recall correctely Sherko kneed Chick to help get him off Jarious.

Tillman went to a Presser whining about Lions players picking on poor defenseless diabetic with an insulin stomach pump John Chick.

Now all that may be true about Chick, (actually it is) but Tillman looked and sounded like a whiny crybaby complaining after HIS player when after an opposing qb, and got called on it my Murph and Sherko.

Yes. It's nothing to get up about. Most of them will be back.

Tell that to the players. Contracts are a one way street right now. There are iron-clad as long as the team wants the player. But just as soon as somebody comes along who might be better the contract isn't worth the paper is written on. Teams can get out from under a contract any time they want. Why should it be so bad for players to have an out even if they can only exercise it for a 2 month window. The teams still hold most of the cards unless the player actually cracks the NFL lineup and such players are the exception to the rule.
