OK, I went back and looked at over 2 years worth of threads and didn't see this brought up yet so I think it's safe to make it myself. I'm curious to see who everybody likes. I'll wager that there's very few here who share my taste in music but I'm always interested to see what people are into:

Here's a few of the bands I like:

Metallica
Pantera
Machine Head
Lamb Of God
Slayer
Megadeth
Arch Enemy
Unearth
Killswitch Engage
The Agony Scene
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden

I've retained from your list the artists from whom I have bought at least one album. "v" denotes vinyl that I haven't and probably will never bother updating to CD, as my tastes have simply changed too much since 1985 to justify it*** :

vMetallica (MOP only, shame that Cliff died so young)

vBlack Sabbath (1st album, Paranoid, and the Dio era)

vIron Maiden (everything up to 7th Son inclusive -- even as a youth I really liked their lyrical depth, drawing on literature, poetry, history, Egyptian mythology and the like)

Led Zeppelin

vThe Beatles: I had Sgt Pepper on vinyl at one point but lost it. The Beatles have become so renowned and so overanalysed that it has actually taken some of the enjoyment out of their music for me. I still respect what they accomplished, but for me, listening to Lennon/McCartney (and some other artists from that era, I'm not singling out the Beatles) has acquired the veneer of scholarly activity. I feel like I'm listening to it not because it's good music (it is!), but more because it's important.

Pink Floyd

AC/DC (don't actually own; I like them but hear enough of them elsewhere there's no need to buy)

Dire Straits

CCR

The Rolling Stones

George Thorogood (see AC/DC)

The Who

I caught a GT show in 1986 where a fan threw a wineskin at him. He didn't see it coming and it caught him square in the face, all but felling him.

As for other musical tastes, the last four concerts I've seen are Richard Thompson, Jonathan Richman, Gang of Four and Camper Van Beethoven.

***Speaking of this topic, even though I have all of his previous recordings on CD, for some reason I can never bring myself to update my vinyl copy of Born in the USA.

Wow... okay, my list is pretty much a compilation of everything so far, except most of LF4L's (save Pearl Jam, Police and U2).

Actually, I'm really into a lot of local bands: Entropia, Social Disease, Kill Rhythm, Musspellheim, Muffgoat, KJB Agents, Severfuse, Liminis, Splatter, Skookum, Joykamp, Ninjaspy, Burlap, Soma City Ward... and of course, Antiquus (whose debut album I recorded ;))

I know MWS and Newzboys. Never got into the latter, but MWS has been a fave for... well, 20+ years. Great talent.

I define favorite band as a group or artist I would pay money to see, and regularly buy their albums when/if they come out.

Astral Weeks is a classic.

Someone based at SFU has a fairly wide-ranging Van fansite, which has been around for several years now:

Bob Dylan -- Blonde On Blonde (1966)
Velvet Underground -- Velvet Underground & Nico (1967)
Van Morrison -- Astral Weeks (1968)
Derek & The Dominos -- Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs (1970)
Modern Lovers -- Modern Lovers (1976)
Steely Dan -- Aja (1977)
Graham Parker -- Squeezing Out Sparks (1979)
The Clash -- London Calling (1980)
Talking Heads -- Remain In Light (1980)
Richard & Linda Thompson -- Shoot Out The Lights (1982)
Camper Van Beethoven -- Telephone Free Landslide Victory (1985)
