Lions sign linebacker from free agent camp"
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that non-import defensive lineman Jason Ward and import linebacker Nick Hannah have signed with the team.

Ward was the Lions’ sixth pick (6th round, 48th overall) in the 2006 Canadian College Draft. He spent three seasons at the University of Connecticut but missed the 2006 season due to injury. Ward appeared in 25 career games at UConn, recording 36 tackles and 3 sacks from 2003 to 2005.

Hannah comes to the Black and Orange by way of the Indianapolis Colts having been released by the current Super Bowl champs in September 2006. The Eastern Oregon-grad enjoyed a productive college career leading the Mountaineers in tackles for two consecutive seasons (’03 and ’04) and averaged more than 100 stops per year in that time. Hannah was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2005 by the Colts who then allocated him to the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe. With the Admirals, Hannah tallied 31 tackles, including 12 on special teams.

Hannah’s signing comes after a Lions’ free agent camp this past weekend in Dallas, Texas. GM and head coach Wally Buono along with director of player personnel Bob O’Billovich and player personnel coordinator Neil McEvoy will be on the road again this weekend in Los Angeles conducting another free agent camp on Sunday, April 22. Lions Training Camp begins on Monday, June 4 in Abbotsford, BC.
