Anyone who considers the Seahawk victory a "miracle" needs to watch more professional sporting events.
Ah, the crux of our disagreement... I never said it was a miracle, simply that it was dramatic. Far from a miracle it was, we agree on that point.

I truly believe the Seahawks will upset the Bears. Say what you will about the Bears having nothing to play for, their QB situation is a farce. Their D will have to come up huge and score some points (which they have done in the past, mind you) to win.

The Seahawks will be a week healthier with some momentum. I like their chances.

I'm taking exception over the original poster who reported that it was being called the Emerald City Miracle.

I don't see how the decimated Seahawks can beat the Bears. Herdon and Williams are on IR. Trufant is still as question mark, although I don't know how effective he can be. Jackson and Hackett reaggravated injuries vs Dalls. Gray, Hill, Womack, Bernard and Burleson are all nursing injuries.

The Chicago corners scare me. Granted, Tillman is still a question mark, which leaves Ricky Manning, not exactly chicken scratch, on one side with Vasher and Hester taking turns on the other side. Hasselbeck has to do one of two things: rely on Stevens and Alexander or not throw INTs which will probably lead to defensive TDs.

The Seattle ST unit needs to whip themselves into shape, with the aforementioned Vasher and Hester as return guys.

Good to see Jeff Garcia and the Philadelphia Eagles won.

Personally, I felt that the Seattle Seahawks stood a better chance of winning against the New Orleans Saints. But now, they must face the tough Chicago Bears. Game time is Sunday, January 14 at 10:00 am PST.

Chicago has a crappy, untested young QB who struggled (to say the least) down the stretch. Their backup is experienced but spotty and inconsistant. This makes me less concerned about the injuries in the Hawks secondary.

This game comes down to 3 things imo, the Hawks ability to stop the run and force the game into Grossman's unsteady hands, the performance of Shawn Alexander and Hasselback playing mistake free.

We'll see I guess, but at this point are the Bears scaring anyone really?

And would the Hawks really want New Orleans, which has a much higher powered offence? I'm not sure about that at all.

My dsylexia got me there I thought it read 'weak healthier'.

I wish I could share your optimism. This Hawks seems too injured and not capable of doing the things they did in their Superbowl 06' march. However, this team has managed to win games they didn't really deserve to be in, so...... :cr:

Will Holmgren join Cowher on the sidelines if the Hawks bow out? I really think he's done all he can and won't be back if they don't win it all.

Agreed... Brees was named the All-NFL first team QB for a reason and I like his chances of shredding a Seahawks secondary that hasn't looked good all season, even when healthy.

?Hawks catch a break in that they get to face another playoff untested QB for the second straight week.

It will also be interesting to see how Rivers manages in his first playoff start... going head-to-head with Brady. What a second round match-up!

Not likely. I can't wait to see the Hawks surpise everyone... and I'm not even a fan, just think many of you are over estimating the Bears.

I said nothing about the Bears offensive. I'm saying if anything, it's gonna be their defense leading the charge.

An aging Favre tore them up last week, with all their starters in the game for 3 quarters. Their offense did nothing, AND gave the ball away a bunch of times. They can't rely on Hester all the time to change games.

The Bears are overrated, and Sunday will show this.

As long as Hasselback stays in control and Alexander shows up, this game will be very close, with a strong chance of upset.

gee, once the bears are out, I will have no team to cheer against. I be happy with any of the other 7 winning, although, the hawks do come it at number 7.

 But what if Ditka were coaching the Seahawks?
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Darrell Jackson is expected to play on Sunday, but D.J. Hackett and Marcus Trufant are still doubtful.
