Lions last win against the Riders was Aug. 2017. Fajardo expected to start. Both teams going into the teeth of their schedule. Riders are the only West team to lose to the East this season and it's happened three times. A BC win opens up a three game cushion in the loss column with two games in hand. A home and home also on the horizon at the end of August.

Hopefully Saturday's game at McMahon can match the entertainment level of 2 Fridays ago in Winnipeg.

Good to see Hamilton get a win yesterday. Although the Als nearly did the last second play to tie the game or go for the 2 points to win. Watching the game, it almost seemed like the Hamilton defence thought they had the win in the bag with under 30 seconds left. Either that or Montreal, who were playing at a steady pace all game long, suddenly kicked up their intensity late in the game and their pace threw the Ti-Cats defence into a tizzy... Why the Als can't play at that pace all game long is beyond me. Even with the win, Hamilton looks like a team that has a ways to go before they can compete with the best.

Chris Jones is continuing to make news, even with the Elks on their bye week. They released 6 players from their active roster and 4 from their practice roster on Friday in advance of their game against the Lions next week. Among the cuts are at least 3 ex-Lions, Nate Hamlin, Jamel Lyles and Caleb Holley, although Holley never played a game for B.C. after being signed as a free agent before the 2020 season was cancelled.

Blue Bombers remain undefeated following a come from behind 35-28 victory over Calgary.

Starting to get an Edmonton early 80s vibe with this Bombers team. They are just solid everywhere and rise to the occasion when tested. Thought maybe they would take a step back losing some key starters from a year ago but they haven’t missed a beat with Elllingson and Schoen being big additions.

Yesterday it was without Jeffcoat and Ellingson on the road against a tough opponent coming off a bye week.

Calgary has gone toe toe to with them and come up short each time including blowing 3 2nd half leads last night. Will be really interesting to see how well we match up with the Stamps in 2 weeks.

Calgary doesn't have the stifling D they once had. Collaros is awesome but the Calgary O did enough to win but the D couldn't keep the Bombers O off the field.

The Ottawa Redblacks finally got their first win Sunday, 23-13 on the road in Toronto. The Argos remain in first place in the East at 3-3, with a game in have over Hamilton and Montreal, both 2-5.

Wonder how Geroy Simon is enjoying his time in Edmonton ? Grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

The Calgary victory moves the Stampeders to 5-2 and a second-place tie with B.C with 10 points pending the Lions’ home game against Edmonton on Saturday.

Ottawa quarterback Caleb Evans was terrible. Overthrowing and underthrowing receivers.

It was an ugly game. I dozed off a couple of times.

Argos stormed back against Hamilton in second half, scoring off a blocked punt and then an interception.

Down by a touchdown with 2:15 left, third and ten on your own 30. Wouldn't you punt in that situation? Not showing much confidence in your defence's ability to stop a mediocre Toronto offence and get the ball back.

-Bombers poised to go 10-0 before finally getting their first bye of the season. This will also be just their 4th home game.
-Matthew Shiltz likely to get the start for the desperate Tiger-Cats as the Argos could really take a stranglehold of first place in the East well before Labour Day.
-game of the week at McMahon as another big test for our young Leos. How well will our improved o-line hold up against a good Calgary pass rush and can the Lions establish a running game to keep the Stamps off balance? Conversely can the Lions limit Calgary's running back to force Mitchell into 2nd and long situations? First of 3 meetings between now and Sept. 24.
- Riders and Elks likely both looking at their meeting as must wins. Elks to stay close to the Riders while Saskatchewan have 4 straight against BC and Winnipeg coming up.

Winnipeg is no undefeated following a 20-17 defeat by the Montreal Alouettes. Kicker Mark Liegghio missed a chip shot field goal in regulation and overtime to seal the Bombers' fate.
