A guy who hasn't lived in Canada since he was about 16?
How about two other local heartthrobs then:

For gals: Jason Priestley
For guys: Pamela Anderson

It might be Karen Magnussen

Perhaps. But Karen Magnussen would have had a better chance of being chosen if she struck gold instead in the 1972 Winter Olympics. By winning only silver, that presents some competition from another Canadian woman figure skater who also struck silver - Elizabeth Manley.

My guess is Cindy Klassen, the winner of 5 medals in the last Olympics.

But Cindy Klassen will be competing in the Olympics, and she will be in the opening parade. Usually it's a retired athlete who will be lighting the torch.

When I created this thread over two years ago, I said that Cindy Klassen has a good chance of being the flag bearer in the march.

I stated that who does have a fair chance is retired Marc Gagnon. Winning a total of five medals in three consecutive Winter Games made him the most decorated Canadian athlete in Winter Olympic history until 2006. He has now been overtaken by long track speed skater Cindy Klassen who has a total of 6 medals. Tied with track and field athlete Phil Edwards and long track speed skater/road cyclist Clara Hughes, he is one of the four most decorated Canadian athletes in all Olympic Games.

So Lui is going to be among the last ones to carry the torch tomorrow (Friday), right?

She carried the torch tonight so that eliminates Catriona. Wayne Gretzky or Cindy Klassen

Wayne has been denied as wrong by the head honcho.

I am glad that it won't be Gretzky. Why not both Terry Fox's mother and Rick Hansen?

I did some more reading and saw that honcho didn't technically deny Gretsky, but just said you'd not be able to figure it out.
