If you've made the decision he's not your solution to do the job in games then realistically he's not much of a safety net.

Interesting that Camacho (A) was signed by BC in March 2020, but ended up going to HAM training camp this season.
Menard-Briere (NAT) drifted around 4 CFL teams since being drafted by WPG in 2017. Had no training camp since The Lost Season signing by MTL in 2020.
Neither has seen any game action in the CFL. Sounds like they are both insurance for the time being.

Judging by his CIS stats FMB fits into the punter who also placekicks category. He tried 1 FG in 2015. He handled PK and punting chores in 2016 making 68% of FGs. In 2017 he was back to punting only. Camacho went 25 of 32 on FGs in his senior year at Fresno State.
BC released Camacho in March 2021 probably due to a decision to go the global route with kickers.

I'd rather see Camacho from a kicking capability perspective but FMB would allow for fewer roster moves to get him in.

Sounds like Flintoft will be punting. Given the way US colleges and NFL teams tend to take care of such duties (punter holds for placekickers) he was likely the holder for UCLA when playing there. Also as he was competing with Ford for the punting job he's likely been taking holding reps through training camp and the first couple weeks of regular season practices. It will be familiar territory for Flintoft.
The way things are these days the only time the QB acts as holder is when a team has only 1 kicker handling all duties.

Small sample but Ford hasn't impressed me too much as punter thus far. Pretty decent against the Riders, pretty average against the Stamps.
Yes, one great coffin-corner punt that went out at the one-yard line. But hang-time and distance against the Stamps in that thin Calgary summer air was a disappointment. I recall one punt that he hit out-of-bounds cost us major yardage as it didn't cross the 20-yard line.

Stefan Flintoft will likely handle placekicking and punting duties on Thursday, according
to co-GM Neil McEvoy. Neither of the new practice roster kickers is eligible to be activated before Thursday.

Yes, that was my understanding that the new FG kickers would not be through the COVID protocols, hence my question about Rourke being the FG holder with very little practice.B.C.FAN wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 6:48 amStefan Flintoft will likely handle placekicking and punting duties on Thursday, according

If an "experienced"new FG kicker can come off the PR (in addition to Flintoff doing the punting), then FG success increases. If not, then it is all on Flintoff and a new holder. Not a great recipe for success but better than nought.
Flintoft's college bio would indicate very little PK (and no FG kicking) experience.

Tongue-in-cheek but the holding job doesn't automatically fall on Rourke's shoulders. Reilly used to hold for the Lions as a backup. It also doesn't necessarily have to be a QB doing that job. Glen Suitor with the hands of a DB was Ridgway's holder for years. Personally I'm not concerned. Rourke (or whomever) will get plenty of reps this week. I'd like to think Rourke as a QB has better than average hand eye skills. Whoever holds is going to be new to whichever kicker is doing the job.
