Going to be interesting to see how Amar one-ups the previous 2 years.

And they go rap/hip hop for the 2nd straight year with 50cent who performed as part of the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show with Dr Dre at SoFi Stadium.

Sure looks like Doman is targeting Millennials and you can’t blame him given it’s a key demographic in the Lions rebuilding effort.

I totally support the concept and target demographic they're trying to reach out to as my demographic is not it, nor should it be. The bad news is it isn't rock. The good news is it isn't country.

I thoroughly enjoyed OneRepublic from my seat in 2022 but will probably enjoy 50 Cent from the same vantage point as I watched LL Cool J last year; sitting on one of those Pepsi stools in the concourse outside Section 211 while sipping on a beer and BSing with my buddy.

The club has just announced that, due to demand, the Upper Bowl is now open for the home opener on June 15.

Not a fan of rap or hip hop but if it brings a younger audience then I'm for it.

Lions players were excited when practice was halted for the announcement, which was followed by the playing of one of his songs on the speakers at Hillside Stadium. None of us in the stands seemed to know who it was until we asked.

Here is the reaction of players to the announcement. They didn’t need to hear 50 Cent’s name, just a bit of his music.

The players definitely know 50cent judging from that response and the ticket sales following!

Could have got Kendrick Lamar and Drake in a feud off - hold the bullets. Actually 50cent got shot in 2010 as some drug dealer didn't like how he was portrayed in one of his songs. Took 9 bullets and was fine after.

Quite a few tickets sold in the upper deck today looking at Ticketmaster. Unlike the Whitecaps - no premium pricing just extra value (whether you like rap or not).

Tickets are literally flying off the shelf. Since opening sales on Monday they've opened up the entire upper deck except for 14 upper deck sections between the aisles for 421 and 435 plus the top 5 rows of 11 sections at the far end of the stadium from the stage. Yesterday they added the sections between aisles 419 & 420 and aisles 436 & 437. Overnight the sections between aisles 420 & 421 and aisls 435 & 436 were added, All 4 of those sections are about 70% sold. The bulk of available seats are in the higher part of the upper deck at the far end of the stadium from the stage. I estimate roughly 45K seats have been made available with maybe 3K still left assuming there aren't some large blocks that haven't been made available but are disquised as sold.

Checking today and since yesterday they've opened up the top 5 rows of the upper deck at the far end opposite the stage along with 2 more sections in the upper deck above the stage. Everything except the sections between the 422 & 433 aisles has been opened up. Those 11 sections amount to roughly 5000-5500 seats,

Doman sure hit it big time with 50Cent. Doing some digging he apparently charges between $700,000 to $1 million (US) for these performances. Have to think it’s less given the length of this pre-game concert but no way is he doing it for a steep discount.

Obviously we will see nothing like this over the rest of season but the Doman era has seen the 4 pm weekend summer games turned into “events” beyond football with the pre-game concerts on the street, cheap drinks and food, and a desirable start time for families and people coming to games from outside the Lower Mainland.
Conversely Friday nights have become a tough draw for the club and that was none more evident than under 24,000 for Bombers first place showdown last October. Unfortunately we end the season with 3 of our last 4 games on Friday nights.
