Eventually they will get to Betts

Thurman to the Riders will help. Hearing Hamilton got both Barlow and Hendrix.

Not a surprise. Rider fans expected a van load of Argo pending FAs to follow Mace. I've been saying for a view weeks watch out for Hamilton. They were by far the least active team in terms of retaining their own players indicating they'd be cleaning house and a ton of cap space to make a big splash. Argos to Ticats or Ticats to Argos the QEW has long been the busiest trade route for CFL free agent moves.

Keep in mind that players can't officially accept any offers except from their own club during the communication window. Beginning Feb. 11, teams have 48 hours to review all offers made to their pending free agents and to make their own offers. The earliest a player can accept any offer from another team is 10 a.m. ET on Feb. 13. If they don't accept any offers by 12 noon ET that day, they become free agents and all pending offers are rescinded.

Farhab seemed to think Hladik would sign with the Riders. Will they have any money left with the amount they have spent the past couple of days.

Could the Ti-Cats be now looking at Hladik to replace Thurman while they try to land Betts too?

Very good news. Stanbeck has stated that he is in top shape and that his limited use in MTL last season was due to coaching direction. I am looking forward to his play this season.

The Lions have confirmed that Stanback signed a 1-year contract.

That they waited 48 hours into the FACW has me wondering if things aren't going well with Betts and Hladik meaning they have more cash to spend than they really wanted to have.

Ti-Cats traded for Jordan Williams to replace Thurman. I think Hladik stays in BC or goes to Calgary. Then again maybe Ottawa?

Farhan Lalji TSN: Big signing for the #BCLions who had made a significant offer to Brady Oliveira. Stanback has a great relationship with Vernon Adams & will be a sizeable upgrade to BC’s rushing attack. A 1 year deal.
@CFLonTSN
Wow! So were the Lions and Riders in a bidding war with the Bombers on Oliveira then turned to plan B?
It would partly explain Brady's huge pay raise ($230,000, $240,000) over his 2 year deal.

So much for McElvoy and Campbell being content with Smoke Mizzell.

We have reportedly loss our first free agent. Good for Jalen as I don't think the Lions were going to match that number.
Dan Ralph CP: Wow, now hearing that DB Jalon Edwards-Cooper has agreed in principle to a one-year deal with Saskatchewan worth $128,000 in hard money. That makes him one of the highest-paid defensive backs.
Pro Football Focus' Bryson Vesnaver:
Big get for SSK, was one of the top free agents imo, got a little overshadowed by virtue of playing across from Garry Peters

JEC one of the highest graded corners, 0 TDs allowed last year, 8 PBUs, 14 solo stops in the pass game (2nd in the league)

If the Lions lost a bidding war for Oliveira, they should have more money in the pot to retain their own FAs. I doubt that Stanback cost more than $125,000. That seems to be the going rate for established American RBs.

JEC is also an aggressive downhill tackler, which is how he got hurt last year. With Lee re-signed but likely to miss a good part of the season, I’d be surprised if the Lions let JEC go. They still have a week to table a competitive offer.

The Bombers signed Shoen to a one year deal. They must be razor thin on their salary cap margin.
