I wonder how effective Joseph would be. Missing training camp, learning the system and getting the timing down with the new players.

The guy has thrown 319 passes since 2009 when he had 337 attempts with the Argos. 254 of them came in 2012. For all intents outside of the middle of the 2012 season he really hasn't played any significant amount of time in nearly 5 years. He's shaking off both rust and age.TheLionKing wrote:I wonder how effective Joseph would be. Missing training camp, learning the system and getting the timing down with the new players.
2010 - didn't play. Signed late with Edmonton if I recall as injury insurance when Ray tweaked something.
2011 - ran the ball 26 times as designated sneaker and threw another 31 times in spot duty or garbage time
2012 - 254 pass attempts as he saw quite a bit of playing time in 7 games. The rest was spot duty or garbage time.
2013 - ran the ball 18 times and threw another 34 times in spot duty or garbage time. 26 of the pass attempts came in one game after Reilly had his bell rung. He also fumbled the ball 6 times.
You're as old as you've ever been and as young as you're ever going to be.
He is being brought in to manage a game if the two QB's in front of him flounder. He will only toss a pass to keep the D's semi honest, but the Riders are banking on him being able to play the game similar to Durant. This also is another indicator that the Riders know that Durant is done, or they wouldn't worry about the guy for now, and go after the guy for next season. IMO of course.Hambone wrote:The guy has thrown 319 passes since 2009 when he had 337 attempts with the Argos. 254 of them came in 2012. Entertainment value = an all time low

Great QB in his day... but this day can't be now. Strange move.

Thats how it looks to me too. Durant must be done FOR THIS YEAR, and the 'possibilities' he'll return for the playoffs are SLIM.Rammer wrote:.......... Bet he never thought he'd get an offer..... It was kinda like Ryan Thelwell in 2011. Cut loose after a Grey Cup win as a Lion, goes and wins one with the Stamps. Gets cut, playing career pretty much done, "hey Ryan we could use you" late in that 2011 season. Nice way to cap things off. Doubt Joseph story will be anywhere near the same. Sure would not want the Riders to win their second of back2back cups on the BC PLace turf, using an emergency QB.Toppy Vann wrote:Great QB in his day... but this day can't be now. Strange move.

The Riders' options were limited due to the RedBlacks having signed the CFL's favourite emergency backup QB Joey Elliott in September after Thomas DeMarco got injured.
I heard it was down to either Joseph or Casey Printers.

Why not. Benny and Khari's offence can ignore them just as easily as the guys who are out there on the field this season.Toppy Vann wrote:Let's bring back Ryan Thelwell and Lyle Green.... put them in the slots...
