What do you think...Rammer and The LionKing...I'm pickin' it with my guitar...a bit of blues/soul for the sound, or a little country and western with a bit of gospel.....or maybe just rap it!!

You know what's scary... I just imagined the first verse done to the tune of "The Gambler"... and it fits.
You gotta know when block'em
Know when to dodge'em
Know when to pass the ball,
And know when to run...
You gotta know when block'em
Know when to dodge'em
Know when to pass the ball,
And know when to run...

Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.
I'm in the groove now John Henry!!!!!Wow, cool lyrics Blitz! Not sure if you've made up the tune yet, but here's some chords that might work...although it might need some fine tuning, like the transition from chorus to verse.
G....................................C.....................G
On a crisp autumn evening, first place on the line
G................................. F................. D7
Seconds tick away, we’re runnin’ out of time
D7......G........................C.................G
Take a knife and cut this pain from my heart
G................................. F............... D7
I was hoping for a win for Jarious’ fifth start
Chorus
F ......................................................G
Blow away the doubts that can tear you apart
G......F...................................................G
Blow away the doubters that will break your heart
G......F...............................................G
Blow away the pressure...make your last stand
F...................................... G......... A
Jarious....you took us to that Promised Land
