I think he was at a Riders tryout camp but then signed with the Seahawks, then released and is now on the Lions Practice Roster.

Led his Skyline High School in Washington to state titles in 2008 and 2009. Always a good sign, winning at any level.

Rated as the top QB prospect after those titles by Scout.com and Rivals.com.

Played for 3 universities with mixed success. He was MVP in the 2010 New Mexico Bowl.

Spent time with the New York Jets, Brooklyn Bolts, and three times with the Seahawks. One could say that is lot of times found wanting, or one could say his talent has led to multiple opportunities at the pro level.

The Lions obviously feel he is worth a look.

This fan has not been thinking about the injury to Jonathon Jennings. Probably a kind of denial for me. Fortunately for our team, Travis Lulay has shown a remarkable return to health and productivity.

At 6'1" not too many NFL teams are all that interested in Heaps but he may be a very good fit in the CFL.
