Kevin Glenn has apparently signed in Saskatchewan as per "Sportscage" CJME

I believe this is his 3rd go around with the Riders.

He was supposed to be signed by the Eskimos so he could rightfully claim to be a member of every franchise city in the CFL. Apparently he has a verbal agreement to get a 1 day contract in Edmonton. Maybe when he gets cut by the Riders.

Probably a good thing the Riders did pick him up though.....Henry Burris is looking more likely to retire as per Farhan Lalji. The QB ranks are thinning out....Nichols re-ups in Winnipeg now Burris retires.

Burris was never going anywhere. He was going to stay put in Ottawa either as a REDBLACK or as a retired REDBLACK. He and his family love it there. It really never made any sense on any level for him to go somewhere else to chase a pay cheque for 1 more year, especially to a rebuilding situation he wouldn't see through to the end.

Any idea if Burris has gotten his Canadian citizenship? I know he had applied but wasn't successful for what seemed like pretty minor, almost petty reasons. He was not too pleased but was going to persevere.

This is one CFL fan that likes Kevin Glenn.

Henry Burris too. I hope he gains his Canadian citizenship relatively quickly.

Seems Burris' application is still in limbo

Something I read the other day, might've been his REDBLACKS bio, said he and his wife were both trying to get Canadian citizenship. Also said they love Ottawa and their boys are both in minor hockey.

Glenn is a good signing as a backup or interim starter until Mitchell Gale, Brandon Bridge or another young QB steps up to take the starting job.

Glenn could also help Chris Jones sign Duron Carter in Saskatchewan, as rumoured this week. Carter was having an excellent season catching passes from Glenn in Montreal last year until Rakeem Cato took over the starting QB job in September and all hell broke loose. Here's a reminder of the Glenn to Carter chemistry:

Glenn and Carter will make the Riders a better team than they were a week ago but what most of Rider Nation doesn't realize is that Montreal is a better team than the Riders to begin with and Durant makes them even better.

When the Riders first lured Jones away from the Esks I thought it was a great move but now a year later the amount of Jones missteps has me thinking otherwise. OTOH by turfing almost all of the pricey Rider star players he must now have a ton of cap space to spend on free agents in a couple of weeks' time.

I know this is a small league and I've got nothing against Kevin Glenn, but the optics of one mercenary quarterback being constantly signed by team after team in a seemingly never ending recyle-o-tron looks bad on the league. Perhaps it speaks well to Glenn's ability to stay relevant, but being on the roster of 8 of the 9 clubs (a couple of teams now for the 2nd time!) is a little ridiculous IMHO.

I can see the league's detractors rolling their eyes at this one. Are reliable back-ups really that hard to find?

Never been a fan of Glenn as a player, personally. Managed to have a long but thoroughly mediocre career. I figured he would go unsigned until mid-season injuries hit and teams get truly desperate. Apparently the Riders are truly desperate now. If I were a Rider fan, I would be very uninterested in the 2017 season right now.

I think Jones kind of painted himself into a corner on this one. He wanted to move on from Durant and it seems Durant had no problems moving on from Jones when push came to shove. In the annual offseason game of musical chairs veteran QB style the music has stopped and Jones has found himself without a chair. In fairness to him the Riders haven't done a good job of recruiting good talent to be "the next one". That pre-dates him so he's somewhat left holding the bag and having to start from scratch. One thing that also hurts is that maybe more than in the not too distance past GMs place more value on having a good competent backup. When they have a competent #2 they want to protect that asset. Also we've seen turnover in the area of veteran QBs with Burris retiring and doubts about Ray's future. I don't know if it's fair to call Glenn a mercenary because no doubt if he had his choice he'd stick around in one place for years instead of hopping around from place to place every half a season. I guess one could call him the reluctant mercenary. Reliable enough to be a Plan B/insurance policy for some team but not good enough to be anybody's Plan A.

Back to the Riders it looks like their options were down to unproven commodities all short on experience. Whether any currently on the roster can become a legitimate CFL starter is anybody's guess. Regardless of that every coach wants a veteran presence in his QB mix be it as starter or the backup. I think Glenn will be their opening day starter if anything to buy one of the young guys more time. That could change if one of them really seizes the opportunity and shows enough to Jones in camp that he deserves to be considered to start ahead of Glenn he will still want a vet like Glenn on the roster. Glenn really was the only veteran CFL option out there right now that wouldn't cost the Riders assets.

Kevin Glenn is a cat with nine lives, including Lion and Tiger-Cat. LOL

The Kevin Glenn saga. If he had won a Cup, he could go straight to the CFL Hall of Fame, IMO.

Now I am not his greatest fan, but I think he is largely underappreciated. Great pocket passer. As with the Stampeders under Hufnagel. They carved us up from the first play in that playoff game.

According to Gary Lawless, the Riders have tendered an offer to Duron Carter but no word as to whether it has been accepted.

Carter is obviously a talented receiver but man, he is pure poison in my opinion. There has to be a tipping point when a toxic locker room presence cannot be excused by on-field performance. His attitude might be welcomed by some Rider fans who want "big personalities" but there will be some who will not like his narcissistic ways.

If he doesn't produce on the field or things don't go his way, his tendency to *beeotch* and complain just might be like pouring water on the potential Rider grease fire next year.
