I didn't see this coming, especially after a big road victory.

Montreal - Montreal Alouettes owner Bob Wetenhall announced on Friday that he has relieved Tom Higgins of his Head Coaching responsibilities.

"General Manager Jim Popp will take over the duties of Head Coach at this time. Our management and I have full confidence in Jim, as do our players," said Wetenhall.

"We have made this change as we believe it is in the best interest of our team, and especially our fans. We all wish to express to Tom our affection and respect, as well as our appreciation for the contributions he has made to the franchise."

Strange turn of events. Chamblin in Regina is winless and still has his job. Such is life in the pros.

Jim Popp just told the Friday Night Football panel the decision to fire Higgins was made before Thursday's game.

Bowman related?

Borque and O Line playing for Bowman?

Who knows?

Alouettes have troubles?

You think you got troubles? Try the Lions.

I didn't see this coming. Herb Z was challenging more of Turk S's decisions to underutilize guys like Nik Lewis but not the HC.

I don't think it is deserved either as the team was a bit divided on the free ride Michael Sam got due to his contract where he had to be on the 46 man roster regardless. That is on Popp who we know wanted to coach and IIRC was not in on the decision to fire.

Als certainly wanted to lose to BC but we wanted the L more than they did.

Looked like Manny wanted to lose.

Hey, throw it to me. Ahhh, I will just let it go. But I didn't see it.

Silly move by the Als to fire Higgins. Higgins will not be out of work too long (ie. Perhaps he'll be wearing green and white ?)

One thing .. when AC is your REC coach and not your QB coach... you know that is dumb. I feel really bad for higgins who I thought did a not bad job and looked better than he had in the past.

you'd have to think he'd be a candidate for Sask but I'd be looking at Steinhauer for sure in there.

Better plan- put him back in charge of officiating again.

Apparently it was Wetenhall's call.

Yes I heard that...

I was going back to his hiring and I recall Popp wanted the HC gig and the owner hired Tom H. It seemed an odd presser when TH was put in place as HC.

Was it pre-ordained he'd be screwed eventually? We'll see if his daughter rips the Als like she did the CFL when he got fired there.
