Game blog

Q1 and Q2

Tristan Jackson hurt. Awwwwww. Goes around, comes around.

Lions run game good. Holes for Harris and Lulay. Promising.

Lulay looking sharp.

2 ex Lions catching the ball.

Many penalties on the Rider O Line. Hmmmm ... Confusion slipping in to Dorazio's unit?

Jennings on short should have gone left. And without hesitating.

JC still using the signals.

Lions blitz. Oops ... Screen pass.

We sure do not seem to know how to blitz. At least we are trying to bring pressure.

P Mc misses. Ha ha ... Should not look to the opponents' bench.

Nice protection for Lulay, and nice hook sliding.

Leone pounding the ball.

Still weak vs the run.

Those Rider helmets really do look like watermelons. Ha ha

At the half ... Harris and Lulay getting nice yardage on the ground. Lulay missing on passes.

We are very weak vs the run. We are trying to get pressure on QB, but not doing it very well.

Nice protection for Lulay.

Q3

This fan sees reason for hope on offence.

Defence? Scary ... Although we did hold the Riders to 4 points. But we look vulnerable to both the run and the pass.

So we find a kick returner, and he is a National, Little Shaq.

That is Andrew Harris. Great run. Great block by Draheim.

Leone kills it.

Gang tackling on Messam.

Gheezus ... Are we vulnerable to the run?

Are we vulnerable to the pass?

Gawdddd ...

Porous, awful defence on that Rider drive.

Lulay to Manny ... 48.

Lulay runs. Ha ha

Misfire in the red zone.

Glenn to Smith ... 27.

Challenge re fumble. Too casual? Nonsense.

Lulay. Huge run.

Harris. Nice run.

PI ... Challenge.

Suitor playing homer for Regina. Booo.

Stop it Suitor.

Q4

TD to Leonard.

Roughing on Lulay.

O looking gooood.

D still scary.

Ineffective blitz by us. No pressure ... Expect to get burned by the pass.

No pressure.

Disappointed in Suitor. Would not let it go, although ruling central called it PI.

Four man rush. Burned by screen. Gawdddd ....

Second and long. Suits suffering with the time count violation.

No f***ing pressure.

8 minutes left.

Two and out.

6:44 left.

STs still scary. Punt almost blocked. Chuck was gonna retire, if released. A new young guy with energy and ideas might have been the move.

Lee just misses the int.

Another conversion by Riders. Gawddd

5 minutes left.

MW playing it deep. Dressler eating it up underneath.

4 minutes left.

Solo and Biggie dropping 25 yards deep. LOL

Bazzie gets the sack.

3 minutes left.

Long FG by PMac.

3 minute warning.

Two runs. Stopped.

Leone goes down. No call.

8 seconds for 40 yards. Gawddd

Dressler for 19.

Don't you love prevent defence?

Getzlaff just misses.

And there is Messam.

F***ing prevent D.

Ha ha ... Beauty fake. Two Roughies fight for it and drop it.

IMO our defence blows.

Onside kick coming.

Is Chuck M ready? WTF is he doing laughing?

Big break for us.

Ssk is 0-4 and has already ceded the head-to-head tiebreaker to BC who now sit at 2-1, 4pts ahead in the standings. Big hole to climb out of if they want to grab a playoff berth.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Who ever would have thought it would be Lulay's rushing ability playing a huge part in a Lions victory again. Our defence is absolutely dreadful led by a coordinator whose schemes are extremely conservative. Riders over 500 yards in total offence. Very very frusterating to watch. Love seeing our linebackers 25 yards down field and dbs like Lee still get lit up like a Christmas tree.

Down by 16, have no clue why Chamblin decided to kick a FG on 3rd down in the 4th quarter, which kept it a two possession game. Then he does it again despite moving the ball at will against the Lions for basically the entire 2nd half.

How do we like our defensive scheme? Hoo ray ... :rockin: :yahoo:

Did Wally sell Tedford on Washington and McMann? He must have. There is no earthly reason otherwise to have kept them on. Gotta watch the budget, after all. And they are loyal guys.

Karma comes to bite Jackson. :rotf:

Still not sold on the D-line. Bend but didn't break.

Our corners got exposed a tad bit. I'm hoping it was the weather and sloppy playing conditions.

No major injuries, it's a W and two points. :beauty:

It blows Joe. Absolutely horrific. 2-1 record masks how bad it really is.
