Thanks, C, that was me. BTW here's some pics (not mine) from their show here the other night you might like to check out.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

I heard a rumour in 1995 from a well-connected source (he had a family member on the GC committee) that they tried to get Mr. Margaritaville himself, Jimmy Buffett, to play the first Grey Cup in Regina, but apparently it never panned out.

This won't play well with MADD as it is in BC Place and the lead singer did this not too long ago. MADD were furious that the trial was not over until 2008 and IIRC Chad Kroeger was in Europe with the judge demanding he appear at least for his sentence. He was double the limit. His Charter rights were violated but they accepted the results regardless.

Just a complete lack of judgment here by the GC organizers. The CFL just makes a big deal of the HS team 4 kids dead at the hands of a drunk driver and now this!!!! Ridiculous. Wrong message given the carnage each year on BC and Canadian roads and highways.

To me this is where they say, hey, this group is a bit controversial as so many die or get maimed by drunk drivers. Give him a pass.
Surrey RCMP stopped the Alberta-born rocker in the wee hours of June 22, 2006, after watching him blow down a Surrey street at an estimated speed of 160 km/h in his $175,000 Lamborghini.
That was on the street not the freeway!

Along with Prism and Chilliwack .... LOL.
I liked the one hit that Chilliwack had. It would have been nice to hear that at the Grey Cup halftime show.

And although I have a great deal of respect for the Lions Pride Dance team, I think it would be nice for them not to be dancing around during the Half Time Act as though they were part of it. It always looks like something grafted on and out of place when this is done during half time shows. With a band like NB, Pom Poms and orange boots just don't fit well. If it is Nickelback, then let it be Nickelback. They don't need cheer teams or volunteers with flags trying to wave them around in some sense of symmetry to help NB put on a good show. Face it, GC Committee, there are limitations about how good any show can be in the time allotted. This isn't like the opening or closing ceremonies for the Olympics. But you can bring the dancing mounties if you must. Nothing like a good controversy.
Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.
