Good Football Book

If you're looking for a good football read over the Christmas season try Playing for Pizza by John Grisham. He usually writes legal thrillers but branches off into football once in a while. A few years ago he wrote Bleachers which was good too. Playing for Pizza is about a washed-up NFL quarterback ...

Phone number for 2008 Grey Cup tickets

I phoned Ticketmaster and they told me to call their sister organization in Montreal. It's called "Admissions" and I guess is the Quebec version of Ticketmaster. Anyway the number is 1-800-361-4595. I called and they are selling Grey Cup tickets.

Personally I don't find very many comments to be rude or disrespectful on Lionbackers. There are some and you wish they would perhaps take a deep breath and think about it overnight before posting. Kind of like leaving an angry email in the draft folder for a day to give yourself time to think about...

Mark Washington hosts the Athletes in Action Breakfast

Mark Washington again did an excellent job as the MC of this event the day before Grey Cup game in Toronto. Over 700 people in attendance including including players from both teams playing in the big game. Also Damon Allen, Pinball Clemens, and others. Mark had help from the Lions chaplain, Dave Kl...

I heard him speak at the AIA breakfast in Toronto the day before Grey Cup. He's a tremendous speaker, very sincere and not afraid to talk about the ups and downs of his own life. From what he was saying at the breakfast I think he had had enough of coaching and I'm really glad he stayed with the CFL...

Yes those are good points about the other HOF's being in smaller places. Maybe Hamilton is a good spot for ours. I just couldn't help but wish it was in Toronto when I was at the HHOF and saw all those Grey Cup football fans there. I didn't make the trip to Hamilton to see the Cdn Football HOF but I...

The CFL Hall of Fame

There were thousands of people in Toronto for the Grey Cup but I bet very few of them made it to the CFL Hall of Fame in Hamilton. On the other hand the Hockey Hall of Fame was very busy with CFL fans visiting. Wouldn't it make more sense to have the CFL Hall of Fame in Toronto where a lot more peop...

Wally Buono sayings

Wally has come up with some great sayings in the time he has been the Lions coach. They're kind of Yogi Berra(ish): "I'm not that smart but I have a lot of experience." "I only look at ya twice. The first time I warn ya. The second time I cut ya." "When you marry the daughte...

The Montrel Concorde of the 1980's

I've often wondered what ever possessed Montreal to change their name from the Alouettes to the Concorde for that time back in the 1980's. Does anyone know?
