Re: Woody Baron & Quincy Mauger released

The jury is out on Stove Richardson. 2 achilles injuries. Exactly. I am not putting all my eggs in the Stove Richardson basket just yet. Two and half years is a long time to be out of football, coming off two Achilles injuries to boot. It will be a pleasant surprise for me if he comes back to form,...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Whoa! According to Farhan the Lions offered Oliveira a three-year escalating deal starting at $250,000 and it took Bombers president Wade Miller’s involvement to ultimately keep him in Winnipeg. That must have been money allocated for Betts right? Wow. It's really odd because I had this sneaking fe...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

All true, Hambone. But the larger point is the guy knows how to sling the ball. Yes, some late season brain fog (passes that shouldn't have been thrown) but I still maintain he is the best pure passer of the FA bunch. He didn't have nearly the weapons at his disposal in Sask that he would have here....

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Shiltz is a competent back-up QB who can move the offense and put up some points. He has limitations but is a sound choice as a #2. Cornelius's reputation took a hit last season but it really was a tire fire in Edmonton and I think he tried to do too much (or too much was expected of him). I believe...

Re: Carl Weathers (Jan. 14, 1948 – Feb. 1, 2024)

RIP. Carl was signed to a five-day trial by the Leos on 9/28/71. According to author John Wirtanen in his book, "Thrown To The Lions" (2000), "His sense of humor was infectious and contagious. He had you on the edge of your seat, or in the aisles fighting back tears." "Carl ...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Ka'Deem Carey has always been one of my favourite backs to watch. Incredible balance and vision. Very tough to bring down in the open field. But I would think long and hard before bringing in a 31-year old running back (even though he will only have been 2 years removed from a 1,088 yard season and ...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

I have the feeling that Edmonton would offer Betts the crazy money ($300K) to go back there.

I do believe he wants to stay in BC from interviews I heard last year, so I am hopeful that $260K-$265K + incentives would get it done.

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

I certainly don't mind the Leos expressing interest in Streveler because it drives up the price a bit for the Bombers. :roar: But realistically, I think I would rather put a different experienced (slightly less expensive and lower profile) pivot behind VA given our reluctance to switch QBs. Last thi...

Re: 2024 B.C. Lions Schedule

Of note: * We play Winnipeg and Calgary 3x each, and Edmonton and Saskatchewan 2x each (with a full interlocking schedule this year). * Regular season home games break down as follows: 4 Saturdays, 3 Fridays, 1 Thursday (vs. Elks on June 27), and 1 Sunday (vs Bombers on August 18). * The Leos' 3 bye...

Re: Is It Rourke Time for the Jaguars?

What is it with some football players wanting to be Superman? There is a difference between playing 'hurt' and playing 'injured.' Playing injured is an act of selfishness, in my opinion. Yea, I get it that these guys are passionate, dedicated athletes. But playing injured is being reckless and putti...

Re: Training camp or game in Victoria in 2024?

We're attending, but a little more consultation with season ticket holders would have been preferred ("Hey, this is what we're thinking of doing. Would you be okay with giving up a home game for a game to be played somewhere in BC in 2024?" kind of survey). I am sure most SSHs are fine wit...

Re: Training camp or game in Victoria in 2024?

The club seems both happy and committed to the city of Kamloops with first-rate training camp facilities at TRU and solid community support there. Hard to believe they would pull up stakes. I believe it's 'game.' But which game - regular or preseason - is hard to say. I think it's the latter as it's...

Re: WEST FINAL LEOS BOMBERS POST GAME THOUGHTS

Wanna-b-fanboy, maybe you can help me understand something that has been burning since last Saturday. And it's not sour grapes. Just genuine curiosity as I sat there and watched their dominance. How are the Bombers able to field a veritable all-star team and stay within the CFL's SMS? Sure, some hav...
