Re: It's a Gamble Drafting an NCAA Redshirt - Lowell Ullrich
Despite losing five non-imports in the last 12 months (Jason Clermont, Adam Nicolson, Jay Pottinger, Matt Kirk and Josh Boden), the Lions aren't short of Canadian talent. Even before the draft, they have 28 Canadians on the roster, one more than at this time last year. Only 20 can dress for a game....

Re: Lions net three first round picks in 2009 CFL Canadian Draft
From the Province: Linebacker James Yurichuk, Lee's teammate at Bishop's University, could play special teams for the departed Jay Pottinger after being taken fourth overall. "If those three [first-rounders] make our team we've done better than any year I've been here," Buono said. Wally ...

Re: Any predictions for tomorrow's draft?
"On a more somber note, the career of defensive end Jonathan Pierre-Etienne may be over due to chronic hip problems. The Canadian defensive lineman came in with a lot of promise, but injuries have limited his opportunities to showcase his abilities." - Rutgers (university) blog. The follo...

Re: The CFL Draft, and Jamall Lee - Lowell Ullrich
TSN.ca is reporting that the Lions and Ticats have a tentative deal in place. Basically, if Jamall Lee is still available at #3, the trade would go as follows: To Hamilton: 6th overall 13th overall To BC: 3rd overall (Jamall Lee) If true, it certainly looks like Lee has been the target of the Lions...

Re: Answer to why a CIS QB isn't likely to see the field in CFL
IMO young Canadian athletes with the size, speed, physical talent and mental attributes necessary to play quarterback all the way up to the CFL or NFL level are probably playing hockey, and hoping to go on to the NHL. If such an athlete did choose football (and quarterback), he would face the obstac...

Re: Any predictions for tomorrow's draft?
I'm hoping for: 4) WR Matt Carter 5) DB Eric Fraser 6) RB Jamall Lee If we even snag two of the three I'll be happy, especially Lee. :cr: I'll be surprised if Carter is still around when we pick, but you never know. DH It would be nice if Hamilton took the "safe" pick, Simeon Rottier. If ...

Re: Dave Dickenson is now a coach
While he was still playing, Dickenson did not want to consider a post-playing coaching career. He said he didn't like the hours, etc. Well, reality bites. Even though he made good money in the CFL and the NFL, he will need to work. He should be an outstanding coach. Very bright. Communicates well. H...

Re: LaVar Arrington's talks about Cam Wake
Great information. So, why wasn’t Wake, who was known at Penn State as Derek Wake, an NFL draft pick? According to Arrington, Wake’s work ethic didn’t match his vast physical ability. And that combination predictably landed him in Joe Paterno’s doghouse. “He went there and was athletic as all get-ou...

Decision time for Buono Leos like to pick Canadians from NCAA By Lowell Ullrich, The Province April 30, 2009 6:35 AM For players like Eric Fraser, there are lot more pressing matters these days than a pro football future and this weekend's Canadian college draft. Re: The CFL Draft, and Jamall Lee - Lowell Ullrich
I recall that Wally wanted to draft Lumsden as well, perhaps he has a plan for an NI TB at some point. If they wanted to convert him, why not do so with Lyle Green, he actually catches the ball in good form downfield. When the Lions were banged up in the receiver corps this year, they had Lyle Gree...
