Re: Game Day Thread - Lions at Eskimos
* With the inexperience on our O-line, I am glad Jamal Robertson is our running back as he is superior blocking back - better than we've seen here in some time (with the possible exception of Joe Smith). :good: * I hope to see us throw the short pass early to build Casey's confidence. My own read on...

Last chance to enter for a prize pack of DVDs!
In case you missed the sticky on this subject, we are closing the "Guess The Lions' Win-Loss" contest at 4:00pm (July 4), so get your entry in! I just need your prediction for the Leos' total regular season wins this season, as well as a tie-breaker guess for total points for. We have a to...

Re: Hameister-Ries ... Perseverance pays off - Matthew Seker
“The biggest adjustment [from guard to tackle] is just the angles,” said Hameister-Ries, whose main sport at Strathcona High in Edmonton was basketball until he decided to go out for football in his final year. “Your pass sets are different. The footwork is different. The technique is different. It...

Re: GDT: Winnipeg vs Hamilton, Jul. 2nd, 2010
Wow. Was Winnipeg that good or Hamilton that bad? I couldn't believe how utterly listless the Ti-Cats looked. No adjustments, no running game, poor tackling, blown assignments, and a right tackle in Simeon Rottier who seemed to come to battle armed only with a red cape. And did no one pre-scout Buck...

Re: CFL's New US Broadcast Partner
More to the point for the casual American observer, why exclude the team from country's 3rd most populous province, and one that has banked a huge amount of brand awareness and goodwill from the Winter Olympics? Makes no sense.

Re: Lions Preview 2010 by Mike Beamish
Anyone else at least mildly concerned about the return game for Sunday? Hell, Wally even admitted after the 2nd preseason game that it wasn't good enough. Yet in the two week period in between games, he didn't audition anyone else?? :dizzy: Granted, I only saw Jordan once so I could be selling him s...

Re: CFL's New US Broadcast Partner
Not...a...single...Lions...game. :bang: I guess we're chopped liver. :dizzy: Perhaps a team that the league doesn't expect to see much from. Well I guess you guys have something in common then. :tease: I won't bug you too much. I recall that you and LU of The Province correctly predicted a mediocre...

Re: "Guess The Lions' Win-Loss Record" Contest
8 - 10, thankful for the two games vs the Argos. You forgot the "points for" component, Rammer. Mind you, with THAT prediction, I hardly think the tiebreaker will be necessary. :tease: Interesting too, that you have 8-10 in this thread and 9-9 in another. I think if we wait another day, w...

"Guess The Lions' Win-Loss Record" Contest
Hi All, We D's blessing, I thought we'd do something fun on Lionbackers. Let's face it, the Lions are a real crap shoot this season (let's hope the emphasis WON'T be on the word 'crap'). With all the rookies and new faces, they could either go on a long winning streak....or (God forbid) losing. :pra...

Re: O Line has new emphasis on physical play - Lowell Ullric
I haven't seen this mentioned before, but the change at the centre position is quite significant for the BC Lions franchise. Since the 1970's, Dean Valli is basically the fifth centre we've had in the past 30-35 years. Als Wilson, Ian Sinclair, Jamie Taras, Angus Reid, and let's hope that Valli can...

Re: How to not get "Morencie'd".....
No question that was a slimball move by O'Billovich. I lost a lot of respect for the guy. We had an agreement with Morencie. While he wasn't ready for the big club, the versatile 3rd round draft pick (21st overall) could go back to U. of Windsor to further his development playing under his Dad (who'...

Re: Which player would you most like to see come back to BC?
Well, I don't think he'd drive north on the I5 for less than $150K a season plus bonuses (and he'd probably get more than that from the Argos), so there's SMS considerations to Foley. It would probably cost another Canadian starter his roster spot too. Just sayin'.

Which player would you most like to see come back to BC?
Let's assume the Lions could get one of these players back from a failed NFL tryout. After training camp and 2 preseason games, whom do we need the most....or do we? Perhaps you feel we don't need any or them - or it's time to turn the page with the athletes we have now. Keep in mind that if Foley a...
