Re: CFL Week of September 20-22, 2013 Odds, Previews, Result

TSN reports the Sheets will not play against us. Dunno about Heenan and Dressler. That would be wise. The Riders can activate a healthy, motivated import RB and not have to rely again on Neal Hughes. I expect that Dressler will be back. He's their No. 1 receiving weapon and will be a handful for th...

Re: Who starts at QB ?

There are a lot of experienced CFL QBs on the free agent market. Jim Popp named a bunch of them today, includinng Elliott, Alex Brink, Quinton Porter and Steven Jyles, and rejected all of them as prospective answers to the Alouettes' coaching woes. Remember that Pierce was brought in by the Lions to...

Re: Lulay Out At Least Two Weeks

Four weeks is a safer bet and still may be low, especially since it's his fourth shoulder injury. Damage is cumulative and it never fully heals.

Re: Lions' Quarterbacks for 2013 - Thomas DeMarco, Lions' #2

I'm happy with DeMarco's arm strength and accuracy. He probably throws a better deep ball than Lulay, and that's something that this team needs. He also showed a lot of poise and confidence when thrust into the game on Sunday. I felt comfortable with him in the game, especially after Lulay's erratic...

Re: Leos/Montreal Keys to the Game

The key was defence and turnovers, as expected. The Lions made Montreal pay for 2 INTs, turning them into 14 points. That clinched the game.

The Lions will need to clean up their own turnovers next week heading into Regina. They can't afford to cough the ball up 5 times as they did today.

Re: Alouettes vs. Lions Game Day Thread

There were 17 seconds left after the last play. I think the Lions were prepared for Montreal to call a timeout, forcing a punt. I dodn't know if they had a timeout left. They had called one a few plays earlier.

Re: Lions 36 - Alouettes 14 Post Game Stats and Comments

Great preparation and execution by the Lions. They probably gave too much respect to Montreal's blitz. They ran a lot of east-west plays when the Als weren't blitzing. Emmanuel Arceneaux will probably lose his distinction of having the league's highest yards-per-catch average after picking up just 1...

Re: Alouettes vs. Lions Game Day Thread

The Lions have 7 DL dressed and on the field. Those who have been arguing for a six-man rotation should be happy. I'm more concerned with the lack of depth at linebacker. It looks like McKenzie and Bighill, with Kyle Jones backing up.

Re: Coaching in the CFL. The bar is rising ...

Travis isn't running as much because there is less opportunity to run I believe John Henry. When the defense blitzes a linebacker on Lulay's outside its difficult for him to be able to get outside and throw on the dead run or take off. And escaping up the middle is more diffiuclt as well because wh...

Re: Alouettes vs. Lions Game Day Thread

It's a rare Sunday afternoon game, which will probably help the Als. I don't see another miracle upset in their fortune, though. The Lions' pride has been challenged. With Solomon Elimimian back in the lineup and Chris Wilson in the mix at defensive end, the B.C. defence will be interesting to watch.

Re: Alouettes @ Lions, Sept 15, 2013 Preview, Odds, Depth Ch

The Als have Brandon London back in the lineup. He missed the last B.C. game with a concussion. He's a big target at 6-4 and can cause problems for Dante Marsh on the outside. London, S.J. Green, Arland Bruce and Eric Deslauriers are as good as any starting four receivers in the league. Tanner Marsh...

Re: CFL Week of September 13-15, 2013 Odds, Previews, Result

It's nice to see the Lions get a bit of help, especially from a team that also beat us. The Riders are battling injury and off-field problems. I think Calgary is the team to beat in the West but the Lions will likely need at least one win in Regina to get a home playoff game.

Re: Coaching in the CFL. The bar is rising ...

Passionate fans often ride a roller-coaster of emotion with their teams. There is a tendency to get too high after a win and too low after a loss. In B.C., the tradition of excellence in the Wally Buono era has raised expectations. Fans strive for perfection, noty only wanting to win games but to wi...

Re: Let's Talk Some DEFENCE

B. C. Fan, can you give us the total number of passes thrown in the first 10 games of each of the three seasons? The interception data would be a bit more meaningful against a baseline of passes thrown. The statistic [Interceptions/Passes Thrown] would give us the means by which we can see whether ...
