Re: Woody Baron & Quincy Mauger released

Lee, Edwards-Cooper and Mauger were the best tacklers in the secondary. It's hard to believe the Lions could start the season without any of them. Mauger lost his safety position to Adrian Greene for part of last season, seeing rotational duty with Manny Rugamba at SAM and dime back. I'm not sure wh...

Re: Woody Baron released

The Lions are stacked inside. Stove Richardson, who was expected to line up beside Baron in 2022, should finally make his debut this year. The Lions also have Tibo Debaillie, Josh Banks, Nathan Cherry, Francis Bemiy and rookie Jonah Tavai, younger (and bigger) brother of former Lion J.R. Tavai.

Re: Woody Baron released

Have to admit I didn't see this one coming. By all accounts had a very solid season. Due a $30,000 bonus on Feb. 14. What are the Lions thinking here? Maybe better run defence options with stop gap vets Sewell or Micah Johnson? https://3downnation.com/2024/02/09/b-c-lions-release-veteran-dl-woody-b...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Thinking he stays in Edmonton but A.C. Leonard might also be the consolation prize to whichever team loses out on Betts. Could also be just waiting to hear a number before finalizing his deal. One of the bigger pieces out there imo and love him as an offensive weapon. I'd be temped to give him a sh...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Shiltz has a chance to be QB1A in Calgary, so I understand his decision. The bright side is that he might leave a bit more money on the table for the Lions to retain Betts and Edwards-Cooper.

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

This from 3D Nation in the article on Edwards-Cooper agreeing to terms with the Riders: "Pending free agents can negotiate with teams across the league during the current window, which closes on Feb. 11. Players can agree to terms on a contract with a particular team for 2024, however, these d...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Whoa! According to Farhan the Lions offered Oliveira a three-year escalating deal starting at $250,000 and it took Bombers president Wade Miller’s involvement to ultimately keep him in Winnipeg. That must have been money allocated for Betts right? Gotta think so. Can't imagine them being able to ke...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

We have reportedly loss our first free agent. Good for Jalen as I don't think the Lions were going to match that number. Dan Ralph CP: Wow, now hearing that DB Jalon Edwards-Cooper has agreed in principle to a one-year deal with Saskatchewan worth $128,000 in hard money. That makes him one of the h...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

If the Lions lost a bidding war for Oliveira, they should have more money in the pot to retain their own FAs. I doubt that Stanback cost more than $125,000. That seems to be the going rate for established American RBs.

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Keep in mind that players can't officially accept any offers except from their own club during the communication window. Beginning Feb. 11, teams have 48 hours to review all offers made to their pending free agents and to make their own offers. The earliest a player can accept any offer from another...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

$230,000 per with $120,000 up front is a sweet deal for Jermarcus Hardrick and obviously one he did not turn down. I think the Bombers push Neufeld out to Tackle to replace him. That's a pretty nice deal for a guy who was cut by Jeff Tedford in offseason workouts in his CFL rookie debut with the Li...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Going by CFL.ca transactions it appears Gary Peters may have been released. I see no re-addition to the roster. Hmmmm Peters, TJ Lee and Vernon Adams all renegotiated last week but the CFL listed their deletions and additions in reverse order. Their old contracts were deleted and new ones added on ...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents

Not sure what kind of market there could be for a #2 with Streveler signing for $120,000. Shiltz or Cornelius would be a good additions. Shiltz may be a bit more accurate, Cornelius may have more upside. Either one at $120,000 would be a great deal. Either one should be in that range. I think Shilt...

Probably can expect first 4 on the road and a bye mixed in the middle, maybe even 2 byes. Argos will be in the same boat.
Yes, unless the Lions want to schedule the preseason game and one early regular season game in Victoria. I just hope they don’t move training camp to the Island as well.
