Re: The Last Two Games - What to do?

With a bye week after Friday, I can perhaps see how the staff wouldn't want VA to be too rusty going into the West Semi (or even more unlikely, the West Final), so to play him for a quarter or so seems reasonable. But to trot him out for an entire game given how he could barely put any weight on his...

Re: Lions at Ticats Oct. 13, 2023

The Good: * The club's overall resiliency. Could have folded like a cheap tent after that demoralizing loss to the Bombers, only to have to travel East and play in Tim Hortons Field - not the kindest ballpark to our Leos over the years - and not really a lot on the line. Probably a lot of tight sph...

Re: The Last Two Games - What to do?

I would love to see another RB get a chance over Mizzell just to see if it adds a spark to the running game. How about a 225-pound JaQuan Hardy who they brought back last week? Looks like we're about to find out, SammyGreene. Mizzell did not practice today (ribs). Worth watching in the next couple ...

Re: Bombers-Lions: The Showdown

Since all signs point toward this "Gravy Bowl" now becoming a B.C. vs Winnipeg annual event at B.C. Place, I am wondering if the club should consider putting this game on a specific day on the Thanksgiving Day long weekend. My preference would be to play it here at 4:00pm or 5:00pm on Sund...

Re: Bombers-Lions: The Showdown

Was no one motioning on the sidelines to GO DOWN!? The play took place on the Lions' side of the field after all. Hell, if I were Campbell, I would be falling to the ground to show him! The whole building could see that he wouldn't make it to the endzone without being tackled given there were only 8...

Re: Chase Claypool

Any idea why Claypool is a locker room cancer? What is he saying/doing? Doesn't like the way he has been deployed? Or is this an off-field thing?

I mean, keeping a guy away from the team (an unsuccessful one at that) while they sought a trade partner is a pretty serious thing.

Re: Bombers-Lions: The Showdown

Concern that the club didn’t adequately self-scout during the bye week. Same issues re-surfaced although we have improved on penalties, and our return game is better. But… Why is Davis continually getting stuffed on 3rd down? Why is Davis still even featured on 3rd and short? He used to occasionally...

Re: Bombers-Lions: The Showdown

I am concerned that the way we lost this game could have a detrimental effect on the club down the stretch. To have the win (in the biggest game of the season) in the palm of their hands only be snatched away by poor clock awareness to lose in OT may be something they never recover from. Quite debil...

Re: Riders @ BC Sept 29, 2023

Mizell reminds me of Jim Harrison. Runs to the line of scrimmage and gets tackled for little yardage. For those youngsters out there, Harrison was one of the worst running back to don Lions colours in my opinion. He lasted one season. His longest carry was 10 yards. Jim Harrison was more of a fullb...

Re: Riders @ BC Sept 29, 2023

Haven't heard much about ticket sales. They opened the upper bowl for the first Riders visit back in July, almost prematurely, but I thought the Orange Shirt Day promotion might help the return visit. The Riders' play of late definitely hasn't. Then there's next week which is easy to say will be th...

B.C. at Edmonton drew the most number of viewers for TSN of all of the games in Week 16 (531,300 viewers). The next best was Hamilton at Toronto (453,700 viewers).

Re: Riders @ BC Sept 29, 2023

I would be inclined to put Phillip Norman in Sukh Chungh's spot at RG and start Adrian Greene at safety in place of Quincy Mauger to maintain the ratio. Greene has earned that start with some outstanding special teams work. Norman is likely a better option against a Rider front that manhandled us wi...

Re: Ottawa @ BC Sept 16, 2023

I wonder what our self-scouting revealed during the bye week? In my opinion, here are some of our needs: * To be more disciplined. Lots of silly penalties (offside, holding - especially on kick/punt returns, giving us BAD field position). Going into our last game, we led the league. Campbell needs t...

Re: BC Lions Player Awards at the 1/2 way point

RE: Sean, I just meant that balls routinely sail right through the uprights with little fanfare for him. Not that we don't see his obvious talents, but he doesn't get talked about as much on this club. I thank God he found his way back to B.C. :roar: As for his eventual replacement, K/P Keiran Burnh...

Re: BC Lions Player Awards at the 1/2 way point

Great point about Cottoy, Clash Dance. I am not sure about "unsung" (JJ Adams just did a big piece on him in today's Province), but I do believe he's under-utilized. Size, strength and great hands. Want to see more of him in the offense!
