Re: Kamloops Training Camp 2017

It looks like the weather will be sunny and hot most of the time, which is great for fans at least. I'll be there for the first few days of main camp.

Re: New Commish Candidates

VICIOUSCIRCLE wrote:How about Scott Ackles?

I asked him last year about getting back involved in football and he didn't seem too interested. Perhaps the commissioner's job would entice him if someone offered it but I didn't get the impression that he would seek out opportunities on his own.

Re: Mike Edem Trade

Edem has had a remarkable fall from grace as a former third overall draft pick. He was a liability on the field last year, along with Ryan Phillips and Brandon Stewart. None of them could get to the ball. Mark Washington deserves a lot of credit for putting together the league's top-ranked defence d...

Re: 2017 CFL Draft - What Players Will Our Leos Choose

John Hodge of 3downnation.com evaluated all nine teams' draft classes, and ranked the Lions first. His comments: The Lions addressed their two biggest positional needs early in receiver Danny Vandervoort and defensive tackle Junior Luke. Some feel that Vandervoort has already reached his ceiling, bu...

Re: 2017 CFL Draft - What Players Will Our Leos Choose

Vandervoort has football in his blood. Chris O'Leary wrote a nice feature for cfl.ca on his draft-day excitement and a family life that revolves around football. Some excerpts: Fifteen years of my life, I feel like the hard work actually pays off now,” Vandervoort said. “You get to see the hours in ...

Re: 2017 CFL Draft - What Players Will Our Leos Choose

I wouldn't have picked a receiver but Vandervoort was probably too good to let slide. I am glad the Lions came back with defensive and offensive linemen with their next two picks. There have been lots of comparisons between Vandervoort and Clermont. That's probably unfair to Vandervoort, who is a bi...

Re: Shawn Gore officially retires

I wish Gore and Fraser all the best. They were two of my favourites. Gore showed great flashes in 2011 when he was made the starter at inside slotback, opposite Geroy. It might have been too much, too soon, though, because he had a tendency to run with the ball before he caught it. After four games,...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

I'm sad to hear Bmac is gone, but glad that it wasn't a recurrence of the depression issues he suffered from. What a charade the way his exit was handled--for a couple of months he was "on holiday" then they didn't even bother saying anything. Is Bmac gone? TSN 1040 is still heavily promo...

Re: Mini-Camp Breakdown

It might not be a bad idea to wear some identifiable item to help recognize and meet up with each other. Good idea Dano. I'll be the guy wearing the BC Lions and shirt and built like a football player without the muscle tone and the weight being in all the wrong places. Me too. I have an old Lionba...

I plan to arrive on the Saturday and take in the first three days of main camp. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Justin Senior Drafted by the Seahawks

No surprises in the NFL draft from a Canadian perspective and no big impact to the CFL draft class. We'll see who gets signed as an undrafted free agent.

Stanley Franks to return to the Lions as assistant coach

Per Farhan Lalji: Farhan Lalji‏ @FarhanLaljiTSN #BCLions will be adding Stanley Franks to their coaching staff as a defensive asst. Spent the past 3 seasons coaching at Idaho St. #CFL Franks suffered an awful injury at Tempire in 2011 and never played again. It's good to see him return to the den. T...
