Re: CFL Games of Week 1

I'm happy for Ray and the Argo faithful. I expected the Argos to be strong this year under Trestman and the Ticats to slide to the bottom of the division. So far, so good. Wally and Mark Washington will have to make adjustments to prevent the big play from the Argo offence and force Ray to check dow...

Re: Eskimos vs. Lions June 24, 2017

A lot of low snaps. JJ was for ever looking down and then had to find his recievers. I think Cody has some splaining to do. BB Yes, and that could account for some of the timing problems between Jennings and the receivers. The half second it takes to bend down and scoop up the low snap is time that...

Re: Eskimos vs. Lions June 24, 2017

The official attendance at cfl.ca was 19,175. There were a lot of no-shows, as there always are in summer. I thought there were about 14,000 people in the building.

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

An absolutely horrific job on video screen replays last night — especially on challenge plays. They need to think more about the fan experience rather than is it assisting the visiting team's coaching staff. The long pass play to Williams that initially was ruled incomplete wasn't shown until well ...

Re: Eskimos vs. Lions June 24, 2017

As for the Oline, would folks say one side had a harder go? Johnson and Fabien or Foucault and Steward? Husband had some low snaps that didn't help matters either. The left side of the O-line is much stronger than the right side, as it was last year. Hunter Steward and Cody Husband are the keys to ...

Re: Eskimos vs. Lions June 24, 2017

Definitely some growing pains in this one. Poor kicking really cost us. Was this Thompson's first start? I'm sure he showed better in practice than tonight. Lots of variety in offensive play calling. We took what they gave us for the most part. Were defensive breakdowns due to coaching or tentative...

Well I think the secondary will be revisited this week
Let's hope so. Parker and Clarke are much more aggressive in coverage than Thompson and Purifoy.

So what do folks think of the experiment with Purifoy and Fenner?
Clarke is a better safety.

Re: Eskimos vs. Lions June 24, 2017

Both defences are frustrating the opposing offences. The Lions had some early success on offence but penalties sucked the life out of them.

Re: Eskimos vs. Lions June 24, 2017

Shaquille Murray-Lawrence and Dylan Ainsworth are the two game-day scratches from the 46-man roster. As Wally mentioned recently, the Lions have dressed 8 defensive linemen for this game. Josh Shirley is a backup, along with the three national linemen, David Menard, Junior Luke and Maxx Forde. Ty Lo...

Re: Lions cuts

Vaillancourt was not the same player after he came back from injury last year. Fabien earned the starting guard position and has retained it this year. Vaillancourt was given a chance to start at left guard in training camp while Foucault competed at left tackle but Foucault is clearly a better guar...

Re: CFL Games of Week 1

I think the command centre, instead of searching for the best shot or angle they operate under the premise that if they don't see an obvious ref error right away, then they go to the standby "Not enough video evidence to overturn". I am ok with this approach most of the time and only provided that ...

I hope they open the roof tomorrow night despite Buono's desire to have it closed.
The roof will be open. That was announced yesterday, based on the weekend forecast of hot, sunny weather.

Re: Eskimos vs. Lions June 24, 2017

When pressed, he said something about giving people the opportunity to get jobs and how quickly they forget, character reveals itself over time etc (I took this to mean one of his hires? Was Mark Washington hired by Benny? Is there bad blood between the two?). I can't see Benny having anything bad ...
