Re: Mini-Camp Breakdown

Thanks for a great report, David. It's nice to have more eyes on practice. I'm looking forward to seeing many of these players at training camp.

Re: Mini-Camp Breakdown

looks like the reason they have all those cdn corners is they are going with a US safety (... bye bye edem and fraser) and i assume a cdn corner on field side Wally wants more turnovers http://www.tsn.ca/lions-not-playing-safe-at-safety-1.736858 Yes. Ed Willes has more on Steven Clarke being pencil...

Jim Mullin can answer that, but it appears those sports have lost a major outlet.

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

Speaking of Shaw and media cuts, this also came out today: Shaw TV stations to close in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton as funds diverted to Global The comments after the article are interesting. This one is probably close to the truth: Mike Davis It's like napster. Adapt or die. The future is comme...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

I don't know if I'm much worried about that. Again it's all part of the changes to all media platforms being driven by ever evolving technology. Centuries ago news was delivered by the town crier or word of mouth. Then came the newspaper followed by radio and television. Every step of the way purve...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

ESPN laid off a number of on-air personalities today, including Pierre LeBrun, one of the hockey analysts who does a regular guest spot with Sekeres and Price on TSN 1040. ESPN has lost 10 million subscribers in recent years as viewers cut the cord. This serves as a good warning to the CFL that the ...

Re: Mini-Camp Breakdown

Thanks, Matt. Even though it's only made up of rookies and backups, it's great to see a depth chart. I don't think I can make it out there for minicamp but the battle for weakside linebacker and defensive line positions will be my main focus at training camp. It's also good to see Jordan Linnen back...

Re: Grey Cup Tickets

It was quite painless. I logged in at the crack of 7:00, poked around looking at different seat options and was all bought, paid and confirmed by 7:07. There was a limited number of seats available in all side line sections but still a reasonably decent selection in all areas (pairs, fours and more...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

Sure, the club's website is the new way to reach people with features and video content but how are casual fans getting there, or are they? I have no idea how many clicks they're getting, but I know the club's Twitter following has really stagnated. Just 2 short years ago, the Lions were the #3 clu...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Li

Iain MacIntyre has written a nice tribute to his longtime colleague. Lions fans have been spoiled by a generation of great beat writers. After 43 years at the paper, mostly covering the Lions in some way, Beamish will be missed. I didn't realize this, but according to MacIntyre, Beamish is 69, two y...

Re: Orridge Steps Down as CFL Commissioner

Without knowing what went on in the boardroom, I thought Orridge did a good job of identifying and tackling some of the key issues facing the game, specifically efforts to broaden the fan base to a younger, digitally savvy generation. The league and the teams vastly improved their digital presence i...

Re: Jovan leaves the Den. Confirmation on Page 8.

Real TC competition - maybe only the minimum 7 NIs step-up, but maybe more like 8 or 9 with a strong draft to provide competition at open spots, plus depth. Not sure Wally will see it that way if he defers to 7 NIs only "thinking? There's no doubt the Lions have decent national depth at most p...

Re: Jovan leaves the Den. Confirmation on Page 8.

If Foucalt can play RT and shows better than Antonio Johnson et al at TC, then I would like to see the Lions go with 5 starting Olineman. Foucalt could be the 8th starting NAT with an INT tackle on the practice roster. The Lions don't have any experienced national depth, so they're probably at leas...

Re: 2017 CFL Draft - What Players Will Our Leos Choose

Iannuzzi and Adekolu have been everywhere this offseason, representing the Lions in the community. That probably helps solidify their roles on the team.

Re: Throwback Thursday

The Portland Pig arrived here in 1968 when Jim Champion was coach (I believe Eagle was with the Riders). Evie was an Oregon dropout and was playing rugby at the time when one of the guys he was playing rugby with was Lefty Hendrickson (our tight end) who convinced him to come up to Canada and give ...
