Re: Could Halifax Support a CFL Franchise?
The Schooner name was likely a taken from the Olands Brewery days, which I believe Labatts bought out. Schooner was a popular beer out east for many years, more so maybe than Keiths or Moosehead? Having lived in Halifax and visited it inumerable times, I would love to see it get a franchise but doubt ...

Re: Local "dream team" looks to "restore the glory" in Ottawa
At least they figured out that they need to be active in the community, get a decent venue and to make games family friendly. My memories of going to games when I lived in Ottawa in the early 90's were not great. Stadium was crappy and the games seemed to be more popular for drinking and performing ...

Re: Boden in 2008?
I think he has tons of potential and is a keeper already. He is still learning to play at the CFL level so I'm hoping he will get even better.
Still would like to see a receiver with blazing speed, but who wouldn't.

Re: CFL Combine results.
I have also read via Wikipedia that the Blue Bombers picked up their name from an announcer who was spinning off the Joe Louis Brown Bomber hype, and the Bomers in blue uniforms? Ottawa Rough riders have claimed they took up their name from river riding loggers, but it is also said that initially wh...

Re: Ottawa Back in 2010
Will be good to have them back and would be even better if a new franchise was also added. I don't see that happening though anytime soon, I really don't think either Halifax or Quebec City could/would support a team. I think the key to this go round is to ensure that the Ottawa management team is n...

Re: Lions make a Smart move
He is certainly an exciting returner, whether making a big play or dropping the ball. I guess that's just the risk you have to take to get those exciting big plays and field position. I wonder how resiliant he would be if they used him in the backfield more? Maybe he gets limited action to protect h...

Re: CFL Combine results.
Speaking of names What's the significance of a Rough Rider in Canada? Other than Teddy Roosevelts ,who were Americans and unwelcome guests in Cuba, who has ever heard of them? Why was it such a good name that two Canadian teams used it? What's a Blue Bomber? Does it have anything to do with the midw...

Re: BC lions getting better Riders getting worse
Still pretty early to make a prediction, would be nice if it comes true though. Sometimes major changes work out pretty good for a team in the long run, so I'm taking a wait and see approach.

Great news. Nothing like consistency at the top to produce a winning team. Wally is a class act and a real asset.

Re: KJ to Argos Goes on List of Biggest QB Trades in CFL History
Have to agree that the Joseph trade is no big deal as far a big QB deals go at this point. The Riders seem to think he was expendable, due to his age , and reading between the lines was clearly not a franchise player in their opinion. I guess the fact he was traded to Toronto somehow makes this a ma...

Re: A Few Whacko Fans Swear at Riders' Receptionists
Sometimes folks take things way too personal! Perhaps they have too much of themselves invested in their team. It's a great game, but at the end of the day its just a game. I've found over the years that more and more so called fans our becoming intolerant and inconsiderate of anyone outside their o...

Time will tell. Predictions tend to fall apart once the games start. It will be an interesting season for Tillman who will either be a genius and a hero in Regina, or the recpient of some organic fertilizer on his front lawn.

Re: "Salary Cap Era"
I fear that if the cap was set at 6-8 million we would have a very small league, very quickly. The whole idea of the cap is to help the small market teams remain competitive and stop the wealthy teams from buying the Grey Cup. There simply isn't enough money available in some markets to handle that ...

Re: "Salary Cap Era"
I wouldn't want to see positional salary maximums, it is too constraining. An overall cap allows and demands more creativity when building a team. If you want to load up and blow all your money on O, or D, or a small cadre of players, its your choice, but it can bite you. The current system also enc...
