Re: CFL Coaching & GM Changes for 2024
No mention of Beau Baldwin being added to the Calgary coaching staff with yesterdays football ops announcement. Could be it wasn't high enough on the pecking order to be mentioned although I thought it was a step in the right direction for Jake Maier when they announced it a few months back. Things...

Re: Lions, Bombers and Ti-Cats fined for exceeding salary cap
I was wondering which injury or event pushed the Lions over but can't recall an extended stay on the one game that would have caused the issue. Couldn't find it but thought Dom Rhymes was moved to the six game list which would have made even more space given his contract. Even V.A. was on a team fr...

Re: Lions, Bombers and Ti-Cats fined for exceeding salary cap
Going to the Lions amongst 3D's reported highest paid players by position here's the salaries, bonuses and bonuses earned as best as I could ascertain: ADAMS: Hard Money $285K, Max Value $350K, Potential performance bonuses $65K, Earned $60K. EVANS: Hard $94K, Max $151K, Potential bonuses $57K, Earn...

Re: Lions, Bombers and Ti-Cats fined for exceeding salary cap
Thanks DC. Now I understand where you were coming from. I don't see why they'd report the marketing exemptions because these violations are all about the non-exempt salary portions. If there was anything extra I'd like to see them report it would be the total SMS salaries all teams laid out. We know...

Can you translate that into layman's English Don? For whatever reason I can't figure out what you're trying to say.don corleone wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 2:22 pmSounds like the Lions need do more "marketing" and it would be nice to see the totals in that column to have an objective opinion of the compensation.

Re: 2024 B.C. Lions Schedule
TSN announcing they will only be televising two exhibition games including an Elks vs Lions Friday night game. Sheds a little light on the lack of interest when only 2 of 9 games are aired and must have been something agreed upon during the last negotiation for broadcast rights. Hopefully CFL+ will...

Re: Training camp 2024
That's not as bad as 2022 when Ottawa started the season with a home and away series with Winnipeg. Ottawa lost both but easily could have won both.don corleone wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 7:55 amMentioning early season play taking time for teams to gel made me wonder if it is a coincidence Winnipeg plays Ottawa twice in the first 5 games.

Re: Training camp 2024
I'm torn. I love that the Concert Kick-Off is becoming a staple of the Doman era, with crowds in excess of 30,000 and a buzz built around the team. My concern has been that, while the diehards know that there are only 2 preseason games in which to evaluate and there are fewer padded practices at tr...

Re: Horrific kickoff collision has likely ended Hinsberger’s career
This may be an unpopular take but I am not a fan of the return rules being messed with. If there is empirical evidence that injuries are spiking in this facet of the game, then yes. By all means. Let's keep the players safe. But I don't believe this to be the case. While this was devastating injury...

Re: Training camp 2024
When they changed TC practices to more walk throughs than actual hitting and play making, I lost interest in attending as it just seemed more difficult to figure out what was going on. Yes, that's another factor. There are still some padded practices in camp but I don't even try to evaluate line pl...

Re: Training camp 2024
Edit to my earlier post it looks like they will be doing things like some of the peripherial activities such as the bouncy castles and face painting down to the street festival. Although I suppose they might still be doing some of that up at Hillside as well. https://www.bclions.com/2024/04/08/one-m...

Re: Horrific kickoff collision has likely ended Hinsberger’s career
I was shocked to read that. Until reading that this morning I thought it was Logan who came out of it much worse for wear than Hinsperger. One KO collision ends one career and perhaps but for a stroke of pure luck could have ended two. Certainly should serve as a wakeup call to at least take a look ...

Re: Training camp 2024
The change is disappointing in the sense that FanFest at Hillside Stadium has always had a festival atmosphere, even though attendance has dwindled over the years. Why do you suppose that is? I would have expected attendance to increase over time as popularity builds with exposure and engagement (i...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Great to see Shawn Lemon go out on his own terms albeit surprisingly after signing an extension with the Als back in December. It makes Montreal an even more logical landing spot for Betts if it doesn’t work out in Detroit, especially with their other starting DE from last season — impressive young...

Re: Lions' receivers
I wasn't meaning to suggest the Lions should entertain a veteran presence / back-up receiver like Manny - much rather roll with young talent. And if it's just 6 receivers on the game roster (meaning just one back-up in Harty, or 2 if you include a KR with some receiver ability like Williams), that'...
