Re: Lions name Jarious Jackson offensive coordinator and QB coach

From the standpoint that 2018 will be a transitional season, this is probably the best we can hope to get. It isn't really unexpected, given his links to Hervey back in EDM (before Chris Jones took everyone to SSK). Wally would certainly be comfortable working with him. One thing I like is Jarious ...

Re: Lions name Jarious Jackson offensive coordinator and QB coach

So does he become JJ III after Jennings and Johnson or does he get promoted to JJ I as the senior JJ?

Re: Lions name Jarious Jackson offensive coordinator and QB coach

My surprise would be termed at most mild. I thought he had to be in the mix of candidates. He's paid his dues. Much as Lulay has been thought to be like an extra assistant so too was Jarious going back to when he was playing for the Leos.

Re: Washington 2nd frontrunner for Als Head Coaching Gig

I don't think Ed Hervey would be willing to give one candidate the inside track to replacing Wally this early in his tenure. He might like Washington as an HC but I think he will go through some form of "due process" to accumulate more candidates. I also don't think he would suggest to Washington h...

Re: 2018 schedule

What I really like is that there are no back to back home games! Never liked that in the past. Personally I looked forward to the back-to-backs because they made for a great opportunity to get back to the island to see family. I could catch the first one on my way down to the coast, head over to th...

Re: 2018 schedule

Overall I like it for the dates of the Lions' home games and 5 post-Labour Day games. Downsides: I don't like or see the need for the 3rd bye week other than it eliminates the need for 1 team to play 2 games within the same week to balance everything out.. Lions will be home 4 times in the first 12 ...

Re: Lions trade Chris Williams to Montreal for Gabe Knapton

You guys have better memory than I.... All I recall is CW lining up on the LOS and running crossing routes.... I think the plan was to get the ball to him quickly and hope he outran everyone.... oh well...... The idea of the crossing routes is to get the ball to receivers in space and let them pick...

Re: Lions trade Chris Williams to Montreal for Gabe Knapton

As for Williams performance as a Lion, it is easy to forget that he didn't start until almost half way through the season after coming off a serious injury. There is that aspect for sure. It's not a given that all players will pick things up exactly where they left off after a serious injury. I thi...

Re: Lions trade Chris Williams to Montreal for Gabe Knapton

As for Williams performance as a Lion, it is easy to forget that he didn't start until almost half way through the season after coming off a serious injury. And even then, the Lions were too busy imploding in other areas for anyone to say that he was a disappointment. Is there any part of this team...

Re: QB James Franklin Traded to Argos

The inhabitants of Rider Nation will have their pitchforks and torches out...after all, this has to be the result of the CFL conspiring against them. Everybody but everybody knows it was an absolute no-brainer that Franklin was heading to Regina. At least that is what they'll have you believe for t...

Re: QB James Franklin Traded to Argos

Why would Franklin sign? He is a free agent and if Ray is back, he will not want to be a backup. He likely will try to exhaust his NFL options and may wait till free agency to see what offers he gets. I guess this puts to rest the Zach C rumours to Toronto. Reilly didn't wait for free agency when h...

Re: QB James Franklin Traded to Argos

Depends. According to one Rider fan who has connections with Tillman the 3rd is conditional of Franklin signing. Was Woods injured this year? Or just spent it on the PR? He did sign with the Argos but doesn't appear to have suited up.

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

Interesting, Sammy. At times, I have wondered about Blake Nill being a Head Coach in the CFL. Bring 'em both in next year. Personally if there's one thing that scares me as much as anything it's when a long time collegiate coach takes a pro head coaching job be it in football, hockey or basketball....

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

There's no way Franklin is going to sign a long term CFL deal. At least, not until he assesses his NFL value. Now, there is a big difference between shopping one's wares down south and making a roster, I know. Especially for someone who hasn't even been a starter up here. But anyone who has seen th...

Yes. He is trying again. I doubt Roh gets signed. He is too small for the NFL, unless he is trying out at linebacker.
At 6'5" 265# he's too big to be a linebacker. Situational DE is most likely.
