Re: Anyone know a "definitive" Lion's history?

Here are a few more books related to Lions history: "Countdown to Grey Cup" by Dave Skrien and Dick Beddoes (Lions' coach, Skrien's account of the 1964 season, including their Grey Cup victory. "Dirty Thirty" by Jim Young and Jim Taylor - Lions hall-of-famer, Jim Young's autobiog...

His name is Crazy P (not Pete). As far as I'm concerned, if someone wants to get up and lead cheers and show his support - I'm all for it. He's showing team spirit and getting the fans involved. I'd much rather see fans who have a positive, fun attitude like that than negative cowards, who just crit...

I voted for Jake Gaudar, but admittedly the fact that he was commissioner for 16 years and during a time of relative stability were the main reasons. Unfortunately those who followed him, took the job when there was less public support for the CFL, so their work was likely overshadowed by fears of t...

Actually, BC Place's floorspace wasn't quite large enough for a Canadian Football field when it was built. At that time (1983), the end zones in Canadian football were 25 yards deep. The floor at BC Place was only large enough to accomodate 20 yard end zones. In 1986, the rules were changed, reducin...

The new waterfront stadium would be too small for the Lions, even if it were expanded to 30,000 seats, but it would be a good size for a Vanier Cup game. Hosting the Vanier Cup would be a great way to raise the profile of the UBC and SFU football programs.

This is another view of Empire Stadium. Compared to that earlier picture, the roof covering the grandstand is much smaller. I don't know what year this picture is from, but I assume it was sometime between 1954 to 1957. The reason being that the Playland wooden rollercoaster built in 1958 is not vi...

I'll buy it too. I bet Bob Ackles has hundreds of interesting stories to tell. He was there to witness the birth of the Lions.

I am very sorry to hear of Sonny Homer's passing. It's funny, just this afternoon I was watching a tape of that '64 Grey Cup game in which he played with the injured ribs and one kidney. That's real dedication. He will be greatly missed and my deepest condolences go out to his family. Dick Fouts, By...

I got the Warhol refernce. It's true true that I'm too young to remember Fleming, I have to be satisfied with the old footage of him. My Dad saw him play, though. He was at the '63 Grey Cup game when Angelo Mosca's late hit ended the game for Willie :hypno: .

I'm 31, grew up in Victoria, but have lived in Vancouver for 11 years. I've been a Lions fan for nearly 20 years, and am a member of the Lion Backers fan club. I love art, film and history as well, but the tail gate parties at the art gallery are lousy!
