Brad Gushue finished second to Canada's World Junior hockey team in voting by Canadian editors and reporters for CanWest News Service?s Team of the Year. I think the B.C. Lions finished sixth, right after the Edmonton Oilers. Until today, I had never heard of Brad Gushue as a person, let alone a te...

On the surface, who you cheer for seems like no big deal and in itself it probably isn't. I think it just touches on some deeper issues, such as the ones I described above. Everybody gets different things out of cheering for a team. For some, it makes them feel connected to their community or provi...

On a related matter, Nov. 11 falls on a Sunday next year -- exactly two weeks before the Grey Cup on Nov. 25 -- and that will likely be the day on which the semifinal playoff games are played. I doubt if the CFL will reschedule to, say, one day before on Saturday -- they didn't reschedule the last t...

I noticed from the closeup on the video screen that the last two trophy winners -- us in 2004 and Edm in 2005 -- were engraved on the top section of the three layered metallic base. I wonder what they'll do when they fill out all three tiers -- add a larger fourth section and just keep adding until...

On their web site, CBC lists their views on the top 10 Grey Cup moments. Only one of them involves the Lions. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/greycup/features/topmoments.html That page lists Lui Passaglia's last field goal in the 2000 Grey Cup. However, the description is definitely inaccurate as that is ...

By earning a point against the Canucks, the Ducks (11-0-4) can set the NHL record for most consecutive games without a regulation loss to start a season. They tied the mark set by the 1984-85 Edmonton Oilers -- who started 12-0-3 -- in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over Pittsburgh. Before they started ...

japanese poetry usually follows a 5 7 5 syllable pattern You will hear the clones try their hand at it on Jim Rome occasionally. There was one about Peppermint Patty that he refused to read on air, but was later posted on his website. The 5 7 5 count is common and 5 9 5 is also considered acceptabl...
