Re: Throwback Thursday

When it comes to Lions management who should have strong effort to retain a particular Lions player, one possibility albeit very controversial is DT James Curry. He signed up the Lions in 1983 and played for nine games and got 6 sacks, but in October before the playoffs, was waived and he ended up o...

Big loss for the Canucks as they lost Bo Horvat for 6 weeks with a fractured ankle.
:bang: :-? Just when you thought the Canucks were finally ready for a huge positive streak.

Hopefully Horvat can return sooner.

Re: Throwback Thursday

One of the worst free agency losses in Lions history, perhaps just as bad as that of Doug Flutie, is that of LB Willie Pless. Received as part of the 6-for-1 trade for Matt Dunigan to the Argonauts, Pless was the only useful player out of the six players received prior to the 1990 season. Unfortunat...

Re: Football Operations: GM, Head Coach, Coaching Staff?

Oh, when Casey said Warren Moon was his model it was laughable for one reason. Moon was totally established in the CFL (5 GCs IIRC) and he went to the NFL IIRC when Hugh Campbell his former Esks coach was there so already he had the love. And now, with all these celebrity sexual harassment accusati...

Re: 2017-18 NFL Season Thread

My guess is that the Canadian flag was for neither Ryan nor Willson, but, instead, just an indication of support for the Seahawks by Canadian fans. I've read that about 10% of the fans at Seahawks home games are Canadian--the majority, I'd guess, from the lower mainland. The Seahawks have cultivate...

Re: 2017-18 NFL Season Thread

FWIW, I don't know, can't recall, if he in any way had anything to do with the particular play you refer to Robbie, or perhaps did something that series, but tight end Luke Willson (with two 'L's as they often like to say) is Canadian (grew up near Windsor, ON.) Never played in the CFL, but he is C...

Re: 2017-18 NFL Season Thread

Despite a depleted defence, the Seahawks stood up their challenge against the best offence in the league by limiting them to just 10 points in their 24-10 win over the Philadelphia Eagles - with help with the officials as the lateral pass was indeed a forward one upon review. ------------- Over a de...

Boeser named Rookie of the Month. Looks like the Canucks have finally found a sniper
It would be good if Brock Boeser becomes only the second ;canucks: to win the Calder Memorial Trophy after Pavel Bure in 1992.

Re: 2017 NHL Thread

We'll never know which team the Canucks will show up on game day. Last night with Daniel Sedin breaking the 1000 point mark, the Canucks showed their good side by winning over the defending Western Conference champions.

Re: Whitecaps FC to host first ever home playoff match

It's going to be a rematch of the 2016 MLS Cup, again the Seattle Sounders at Toronto FC. I posed this question before and I'll pose it again: Who do you root for? Your fellow countryman or your neighbour? Vancouver has rooted for the Blue Jays, and have rooted for the Seahawks. Now, if it's the sam...

Re: Grey Cup Thread

Unlike in the past, the city of Toronto just held a celebration rally instead of a large parade for the Argonauts. Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi honoured the friendly wager donned a Toronto Argonauts jersey and recited a poem praising the winning team. http://torontosun.com/sports/football/cfl/calgary...

Re: 2017-18 NFL Season Thread

Despite the Seahawks win in San Francisco, they were playing against a team with a very bad record this season. It's confirmed that Kam Chancellor is out for the rest of the season. :bang:

Re: Grey Cup Thread

shades of 1988 Or the 1994 WDF. Mark McLoughlin, meet Ray Alexander. The play that should have put the game away turns it around completely. Well, putting the game away was not the most accurate statement though it would have been harder for the Lions to win. At the time of the field goal attempt, ...

shades of 1988 Held in the same stadium in Ottawa, though then called Lansdowne Park. In that game, there was no snow but instead, very heavy wind. And Bob Cameron was the better punter against the wind with his Top Canadian performance, while Lui Passaglia could only muster a 23-yard punt in his l...
