Still a number to be proud of. Good job Lions fans, too bad it was the wrong outcome today.

A good goal to set for next year -- at least one home game that goes over the 40,000 mark for attendance. Doable?

Re: Wally loses it!

http://rodpedersen.blogspot.com/ Again, as I wrote Friday, this is not the same Lions team as years past. Why in heck does Wally care what Carm thinks? Talk about being distracted and worried about the wrong things! This was an orchestrated cheapshot by the head of the Lions but it backfired on him...

Joey Kenward, you mean. Not the GREATEST play-by-play man in the world, but it's still decent considering what a difficult job it is. His job entails more than just commentary, too, he does a lot of media relations for the team and such. Definitely not on a practicum from BCIT. Some of the other peo...

Interesting! Glen Johnson was the referee of the West Final in 2006, and before that 2004.

Are people mad at Proulx because he did the 2005 game and there was no pass interference penalty assessed on the final play?

AC/DCrocks wrote:bcplacestadium.com lists cfl football as 58,208.

not sure if this includes the suites.
Probably not, actually. The 58,208 figure is the combined total for level 2 and level 4 seating. The suites are on level 3. So perhaps that explains the 59,xxx figure (whatever it REALLY is).

I agree, though, that we could see a lot of walk-ups tomorrow. It is true what happened in 2004 with THOUSANDS buying tickets the day of the game.

Man this is just too exciting. I have no problem admitting I've been refreshing this page over and over for hours.

Regarding BC Place seating configurations, the stadium's website has some cool diagrams showing the different layouts for Canadian Football, American Football, Soccer, Baseball as well as layouts for other events like concerts. Go to this page to check out it: http://www.bcplacestadium.com/spectator...

I don't recall being at 52,000 the Friday before the 2004 West Final. The amount of day-before and walk-up sales was quite substantial, actually.

Doesn't necessarily mean it will happen again, though. Extra media attention with the Riders now in town will probably help as others have suggested.

Alternatively, scheduling these things can require some lead time, so perhaps he's looking right now for fans from all four teams still alive and will simply cancel on the fans of the teams that are eliminated on Sunday. That's probably it. Must be an in-studio thing, too, if they require people to...

Why would they be seeking Lions fans if they don't even know yet whether the team will be in the Grey Cup? Strange.

Toronto is a good CFL city, it just isn't living up to its potential, in my opinion. One thing that does help Grey Cup attendance in any city are the many people who plan to travel to the event well in advance, regardless of what teams will be involved. And in Toronto's case, it's been so long since...

Given Toronto's size, you'd think they'd have no problem selling out an East Final. But yes, one major factor is commitments to the Grey Cup already -- something that affected the Lions in 2005. Overall though, the CFL is very low on the radar compared to other sports. Obviously the Leafs are #1 (ju...

Yeah... exactly! Think of other stadiums with a teflon roof like B.C. Place -- the Metrodome in Minneapolis, the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, the Pontiac Silverdome, etc. Crowd noise is just as much of an issue in those facilities, so there. And as I've said before, I think it wouldn't be too hard to t...

So, even if there's not a complete sellout we could very reasonably reach the stage where the only unsold seats are singles.

Nothing wrong with that, I say. The stadium will still look very nice and full and AWESOME!
